Camshaft Question

Been doing lots of reading/searching about aftermarket Cams for my Lightning lately.

Those with Cams, do you think it is better to have a higher lift or a longer duration on a supercharged engine? It is tough to get any idea of what the tuners are doing as far as Cam spec's(Understandably)

Thanks a million,

HORSE9

You actually want a little of both. You don't want so much duration that you have a rough idle (unless you are looking for that) and you don't want enough lift to come into contact with your pistons. Probably in the 220 degree (at .050) and up to .500 lift is where you would want to be.

Also not the center line they use for the lobes if you look you'll see 108 degree center line, 110 and so on this plays a factor into the formular also! long duration will kill vacum also. So it may pay to talk to someone versed in cam's specific to our trucks most vendors have always been more than helpful. So you might try them. Artie
