warranty info

Hey all im new to the forums. I just bought a used 01 lightning a few weeks ago with 18,000 miles on it and extended warranty plan. My problem is that one of the spark plugs got loose and blew out the head but i dont think it striped out because i was able to put another plug back in but from it blowing out it broke the bracket on the coil. I have only put about 3000 miles on the truck. My question is would this be covered under warranty even if i have a catback exhaust or will they just void my warranty because of the exhaust apreciate the info thanks.

Should be covered under warranty...depends on the dealer as far as your mods go............

You should be OK as long as you don't have a bigger pound pulley on the truck. If you do, then take it off and put the original on. Like SLVRLTNG said, it is all up to the dealer and what they think about mods.

If your worried about the warranty, you need a Diablo Tuner or an ECU Reflash.

sorry to hear about your plug spittle. Its a common problem with ford 5.4's

I had mine almost shoot out recently on a road trip (1100miles) you can start hearing a semi-loud tapping noise from the head area when the plugs get loose.

with cat-back ONLY you'll be fine. But make sure you odn't got a puller or chip.

svt450r,

I used to live in Somerset, I moved to Hunterdon county about 1 year ago. I would highly recommend that you do not go to Fullerton Ford in Somerville. They will screw you in any way, shape, and form they possibly can. And as far as I know, they are not mod friendly. From what I hear, Down's Ford in Toms River is mod friendly. My brother bought a new '00 GT from them and they offered to install the chip. As you can see, this is my first post on this board. I usually just read the posts to expand my knowledge of Lightnings, but I felt I had to warn you. I love my trublu L, but I cannot stand Ford and many of its dealers. Please take this warning seriously. Fullerton Ford is a horrible dealership, many unethical folks work there.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I had the truck towed to the dealership today and they told me that they have to replace the head because the sparkplug striped the threads. Has this happened to anybody else.

svt450r,

Its happened to plenty of folks with 5.4 mod motors(F150,Expedition,anything with a 5.4 and some 4.6's). Do a search, you'll find a wealth of information about it. Kinda makes me sick when I read about it and realize what a horrible company Ford is. They screw so many people on this issue. Good luck with your whole situation. What dealership did you end up bringing it to?
