Shades, that is a flex duct made of some kind of rubber/cloth blen with a coil of wire through it for rigidity, and the silver coating is insulation.

Just curious WideOpen03SVT, when you say it didn't work, did you do a before and after test at the track to see if you gained any time off the 1/4 mile. Before meaning bone stock with the K&N filter and after with the ram air, also with the ram air versus your airraid system, and by the way do you feel a difference with the Airraid?

I didn't attempt the ram air setup on the Lightning. I did it on a previous GT 4.6 that I had and another previous F-150 5.8. As far as the AIRAID, I immediately felt a slight loss in torque. It just didn't feel as snappy as when I had the stock airbox. But it did make the stock gauge go from 9.5 psi to just over 10 psi. And it made the whine very loud so it's gonna stay regardless.
