I have the same setup on my L with the stock air box. I ran my hose into the upper grille area tho. It works great but i think i have moded beyond the stock boxes flow(4lb lower, ported s/c and 50 shot of juice).

This is the setup I made at work. It uses a 3 inch tube.

I have more pics of the total install, but my wife has the camera. The opening is 12 inches across and 2 inches tall. The tube is insulated aircraft pressurization duct, and I made a contoured plate with a 3 inch nipple that I rivited into the airbox. My next plans are to make a cable operated shutoff valve for times it is raining cats and dogs.

Yes I installed the K & N. My boost reading has always been at 10. I'm installing a pulley this weekend...so we'll see after that. I didn't put the scoop under the front I put it in the driverside lower honeycomb. This will protect better from a foriegn objects. If I knew how to post pics I would but I can email them.

That setup only took me about an hour to make. Including welding. Sure I could make you one, but the duct is going to be the hard part. If you could find some 3 inch ducting, I could make the scoops and airbox adapter.

I did a mod like this almost 3.5yrs ago. I think it works. If you go to a wookworking store or online to someone like Delta[they make saws and stuff] you can get a 4" blastgate and mount it to the bottom of the box. This allows you to close it if you get caught in serious weather or shut it down for winter. I have found rocks and a cig butts in the box before, don't know about any water problems cause I live in the desert but I supose water could get up there too. Get a 4" hose for dust collection systems from them also, it will fit, trust me if you look hard enough you will see where it will pass through all the stuff in the way. If I remember you will need to trim the plastic fender liner a little. I like that scoop that guy made, but if you need to buy one go to the Depot and get a 6into4 duct in the A/C stuff dept. It's round, and I mounted it to one of those brackets that you put on either side of a door and drop a 2X4 into. Ask somebody if you don't know what I'm talking about. Then I mounted the bracket to the front frame rail. Paint it black and you will hardly see it. I also used the K&N filter. This set up replaced Sal's system [which was nice] and stayed on the truck till I sold it.
I'm just pickin on you guys. I appreciate the fact that you guys took the time and thought to make the ram air kit "work". I guess that I shouldn't say that it doesn't work. It's just that I've tried the "Home Depot Ram Air" numerous times before, actually only twice, and it never worked. I know I did a good job of it too. I used 4" aluminum dryer tubing and a good sized plastic scoop both times. And when the each car was started and I had someone hit the gas, I could feel the air being sucked in like a vaccuum cleaner so I figured, "this will definately work". But never once did it make a difference.......FOR ME. Maybe the tubing I used was too big and never let the incoming air build enough velocity. I don't know. But I'll never try to do it again. If you can make it work, I salute you and keep it up.
