Ford just replaced my motor and I think the idle is a little off because the way the exhaust sounds. It sounds like every 5- 10 seconds that the exhaust note drops then slightly then comes back. I notice that I hear a cracklin / rattling sound coming from under the truck and sounds like it is coming from the exhaust.
Do cats make noises when they start to go?

When I blew my motor there was 0 compression on cyclinder 8 and put 100 miles or so on the motor driving it home and to the dealer so there may have been some oil that went into the exhaust.

 

I d/k about the noise and if that's the cats going out but don't worry about that oil. Our L's exhaust see a LOT of oil .

If so, I got a couple with less than 7K miles on them.
