ran a wrx

just wondering which version is was, it had a big scoop and a big wing, if it matters it was blue.

Don't know to much about the wrx but I think it was an sti - if so how quick are they?

BTW it was a short race, basically take off up to 60km but I was ahead thus I'm curious as what it was and how quick they run.

BTW this was with my Lightning, I really need to change my screen name

WRX are fst little buggers, but they are best from a dead stop. The all wheel drive allows them yo launch like they've been rear ended by a gravel train.

A wrx isn't much of a race, the STi is

This man speaks truth. The STi will gang rape you and go after your mother after you have been backdoor bypassed.

master of pain you have both an L and a wrx? My buddy wants one so bad. My other friend has one and I took it for a spin, it is a smooth handeling car. I like the seats and the shifter. (is it a short throw factory) How quick can you get those things going? To the original poster for hangen with the wrx. they are quick little buggers like pointed out in the above few posts.

I have the STi. It was quick enough to make the cover of May's Hot Rod mag: STi vs. the Cobra, if that's an indicator of how well the Subie's doing

I hate Subaru's warranty BS system, but that's another story...

it was from a stop, the guy was reving his car up some (he was probably around 2,000 rpm when he took off). I am just wondering the difference between the normal wrx and sti - I still think it was an sti by the huge hood scoop and the large rear deck wing (it looks like the sti on subaru's web site) unless of course all wrx have the huge scoop?

Anyway I was ahead but he did not launch with too many revs, I was at idle until the light turned. BTW he was also giving some revs so I don't think he was sleeping to much aswell as I heard his girlfriend mention something about seeing if he could beat me.

Anyway one question is that durring all this it was accross an intersection where there was some slight rough surface from the cross trafic and my truck hopped, will traction bars help with this. Normally it never hopps on a smooth surface, its never a good feeling when it starts hopping. (i usually ease off right now when it happens as its not good)

From my understanding the regular WRX does not have the large wing on back or the larger hood scoop, but some will put the wing and larger scoop on to make it look like an STI, the only other give away that I know as to which one is which is that the WRX has fog lights while the STI has none.

Look at my sig. They are heroic launchers from a dig, and they have a varible AWD system (DCCD) unlike the regular WRX, so the driver can make the drive system bias more torque to the rear wheels. I can tell you that stock, with a disciplined driver they can be launched @ 5K to net a 1.60 60' time, and trap in the 1/4 mile at 104 for a 12.9, as I have done. Note the trap speed - the stock Cobra is much higher, at 107 mph.
They can embarrass you on the street in traction limited situations between stoplights - so watch out. I was crusing around the other night in the L and was bitchslapped by one of my own Subie bro's.

The roll on at speeds are OK, but LS-1's and even stock GT Mustangs can hang easy and pull. AWD is a parasite on top end speeds.

The shifter is too long and a little sloppy, IMO. Kartboy makes a short throw/hard bushing kit that transforms the shifter into Ferrari-esque smoothness and firmness.

Another thing - the STi will eat asses alive in the tight stuff - period. The suspension system and handling on these cars are stunning and exceptional.

To get a 10 second car, you will need a $10,000.00 investment + moderate dyno time. The HP ROI is not good at ALL vs. a Lightning or Cobra.

Two things, first, the similes sure are flying for this post. The image of how “The STi will gang rape you and go after your mother after you have been backdoor bypassed.” Still has me laughing as I type this.

Second, (and please understand that no disrespect is meant here, I just would like all the details so as to determine what this Sti puppy is all about) based on what black f150 offroad DIDN’T say in this post leads me to believe that the Sti beat him after 60km.
“BTW it was a short race, basically take off up to 60km but I was ahead thus I'm curious as what it was and how quick they run.”

“Anyway I was ahead but he did not launch with too many revs . . .”

was is past tense and infers that at some point you were NOT ahead. Am I correct about this?

Did the Sti pull ahead? Because if it did, is this because it’s damn fast on the high end, or did it pull ahead because you eased off at the rough surface encountered at the intersection?

I’m interested because if he pulled ahead and you were still going all out, then what the heck was in that little car? It’s made all the more impressive because you mentioned his girlfriend was in the vehicle, which means he was even able to beat the L with the added weight.

What’s the full story?
