WOW I don't feel so bad now... I was rolling along at about 15 or so and a sti pulled up beside me. I nailed it as I saw HER grab a hand full of shifter and off we went. I had her for a few seconds (just by a nose length) till I thought that was fast enough in town about 60MPH and I let off she kept on it and was gone.

She was pretty hot by the way.. I am still looking for her but now on my bike... Still waiting to hear from the insurance about the truck

Sti, sound like some sort of sexually transmitted disease....

Over in the UK most sti's are fake and have factory cosmetic parts to make em look the job.

You dont find many over 330bhp, I believe its starts getting into silly money if you want more than that.

In the U.S. can you get the spec c version (330bhp)?

Subarus are as common as muck over here, would rather have an f150 hands down any day.

SilverBolt:

If you chcck my post on the Blackwood forum, "Bye Bye" you will note I am very seriously thinking of turning the Blackwood in off of lease and getting an STI version WRX. Can't do it till next May as the lease termination penalties are too high.
I would be interested in following your procedures etc. with your car and if you are posting elsewhere, ie a Subaru forum or something like that could you email me at Mostoysinc@aol.com so I can start putting together a file of "what to do and what not to do" so I am ready from the get go to end up with a really nice streetable rally derived car.
Thanks.
Bill

Bill Murry, email sent.

I had the opportunity to take a 400+whp STi for a spin this weekend. By far the quickest street car I have been in. Traction limited in 2nd, 3rd, and part of 4th. Crazy fast and very fun. Very easily a mid 11 sec car if not faster.

All this Sti awd talk brings up a question I have been wondering. Some guy at my school just got a lancer evolution. From my understanding they are the Sti's twin so is the evo vs. L race going to be the same as the Sti vs L

Yea the Evo 8 and the STi are pretty much equal. I would have to say the STi is a little quicker. There are 2 or 3 Evo's around my area, but I havent seen a true STi. A few poser STi's though.

Come on guys get your heads out of the clouds. For a second there i thought i was on a Subaru board. STI's are fast but a mildly modded L ( driven right of course) should beat one any time of the day. I barely have 400/500 and have no trouble holding them off on the street and strip. Remember there are Lightnings in the 11's and 10's also, wow who wouldve thought of that.

Saw this post and had to reply. The STi is a very formidable oppent for the L. Especially on the street. My STi with an exhaust, intake, and engine management put down 302 whp. That was good for mid to low 12sec runs. Upgrade the turbo and injectors (on top of the other listed mods) and you are at 400whp and mid 11's. That is about the limit for the stock pistons. Throw in forged pistons, up the boost and run some race fuel and you are in the 10's. Keep in mind that the street maners at this level of tuning are very easy to live with. No problem to jump in and take a long road trip. I doubt too many if any 10sec L's would be able to make a 1k-2k mile trip. Stock the STi is a little flat on top end. Reaching the drag limited speed of 155 is very doable. Minor mods help it breathe on top and get it into the 160's range. Only one truck I know of that can sustain that top end (Stan/Ruslow).

To discount a cars performance because it's an import or not a Ford is just childish. There is always someone faster.

What he said ... I have run with them at the
on-track events and they really perform well.

How can a Dodge and a Subaru be the same car?

As for your last statement, that's just ignorant. And a
tonne of Subie owner's WILL butt rape you if they get
the chance.
