What to do about my S/C?
As you know in my last thread , I removed the S/C to clean the I/C, now while its off I figure I would go ahead and have it ported. But now I don't know. Why? Because the damn thing has flaked like a ****.
I don't want to put it back on like this just for it to flake off more or pay out my a$$ to have it recoated just to flake again down the road. So I've been thinking of other options, like a MP or KB.
KB would be sweet to have. Top of the line, can make massive amounts of boost when wanted, and should not flake like the Eaton. But, it cost 3 grand! Ouch, my wallet will say.
MP, like the KB, can make good boost with less power and heat. But lots cheaper. I do not know if they flake but its something I have been looking at.
Of course porting the Eaton, but what the hell am I to do with the damn flaking rotors? Also, how long would it take to get it back, I would need to have back by next weekend(or this up coming, however you put it)if I were to do this.
What would you say, that would be best overall? Port the Eaton and forget about it or just upgrade to a MP or KB?

Even if you get it ported you will have to remove the rotors.
So how about just pulling them out now and getting them bead blasted to get the rest of the teflon off.
I don't think porting is neccassary for normal use and it is more of a higher RPM helper anyway.
It is more phsycological than anything. Ether way you won't feel it in the seat of the pants. Chances are if you hadn't noticed it you would have a smile on your face, a clean intercooler and be up and running.
Most guys to bracket racing or are at the track for bragging rights.
You could buy a lot of gas for the cost of the KB set up and besides your tires will last longer with the eaton

Would the rotors be ok if I take the rest of the taflon off?
Thats a very good question!
We need to bug the engineering department to find out "WHY" they do the things they do.
I would imagine if it was'nt needed it wouldn't be there but by the same token if its to keep the noise level down or something like that I would just like to know.
Heck I would be happeir with straight cut gears in the S/C. It might be noisy but it would take a lot of the thrust load off the bearings
Don't forget to add that PCV kit to your list of things to do.

One big thing to remember if you try to sand blast/ bead blast. You will get bead/ sand in the bearings behind the rotor pack. Then they will be contaminated. One even bigger thing. If you venture to remove the rotor pack from the gears and bearings you will have to mark the gears & shaft cuz it is a mated gear set and a timed set of rotors.
