It's unfortunate that the L motors do have weak rods, but then again maybe they aren't that weak overall if you consider the power output already and what can be achieved while remaining reliable. I personally think people get to spoiled and want more, which is a bit ridiculous if you think about it. A mass produced truck with only a few mods being able to do 12's was unheard of only a decade ago. I don't feel Ford should be criticized if the damn thing won't do 11's reliably across the board. Even if you stay in the 13 second category, it's still very impressive for an off the lot heavy truck with a full warranty.

Rob,
If your truck has been reliable up to this point then rest assured you will get into the mid 11's as we can give you better efficiency with a better safety factor. So you have a win/win situation. Seems you have all the smart basic tuning priciples in order. This is why you have been so impressive with your set-up and results. People feel that something complicated needs to be done or advised in order to fix or make something work well. The truth is the basics are what count. As complicated as a new motor seems with all the emissions crap on them, the same factors are still what make a combustion engine work from it's original design, and that is spark strength, fuel, timing, and oxygen. Keep these working properly and a lot can be accomplished.

I can show you people running 200-300% more power with over 100,000 miles on their motors and have no issues.
Those were *factory stock* motors right?

OK! Please do show us these examples (when you have the time).

Rich,
You can go to the Highpower site and ask the guys there how much power they make over stock. Not to mention how many cars Trev has pushed with amazing power. One example is a 90 rwhp Buick motor back in the 80's that he ran 300 plus hp of nitrous through and was completely stock. This was done for quite a while and ran fine. I'm an example if you want proof stateside. I will admit that most of those cars are small liter motors starting off with low hp and as we all know there is that point where making more hp just gets destructive when you get past a certain limit. Just like when you start getting into the 12's or so in the 1/4 mile you need to make twice as much power to drop another tenth compared to when you were in the 14's roughly.
