ive heard some bad things from a friend, such as insufficient gains for the price. but i dont know how credible those claims are. either way, they are expensive

Built motor with cams, ported heads (not Patriot), bigger valves, and ported Eaton were good for 100 RWHP, 530 RWHP with @ 14 psi and street tune (so far, more tuning needed). It made 430 previously with race gas and aggressive tune. Thirty hp from each mod would be about right.

FWIW, before the Engine of Doom, my truck's best dyno was something like 430HP with a mail order PSP tune.

after installing the built motor which included a ported eaton, crower stage 2 cams, valves, and extrude honed heads (which flowed nearly the same as the numbers I've seen for Patriots) and a PSP dyno tune my truck made something like 540-550rwhp.

as for the Patriot heads, if I'm not mistaken, another truck here in town purchased a JDM motor and then added the heads at the last minute recieved a box of patriot heads.

so without asking, I'm assuming that's what JDM is using, and I'm assuming that's what I've got on my new motor.

but you know what they say about assuming...

another FWIW, I had purchased a set of new '03 castings, sent them to extrude hone myself, purchased crower cams, valves, springs, etc, had a valve job done.

I'd say I had an easy $2500 and probably alot closer to $3000 in my heads and cams package. and they flowed within a few cfms of the numbers I've seen advertised for the patriots. so in my eyes, from what I've seen the patriots are a good deal.

just my .02

later,
chris
