Angry Diablo chip fried my computer

I've had the chip in the truck for about 2 years.
Never had any problems until this morning.
Driving to work, and the truck died.
The ususl indicators, check engin light, oil light.
She wouldn't start, so I had it towed to a near by dealership.
They just called and said the computer is fried, and they blamed the chip.
So, a new computer is going in tomorrow, with out the chip.

600 bucks.

I don`t think the chip had anything to do with it, look at all the other thousands of trucks running these chips ???, could have been a faulty computer, chip or not, it happens.

the dealer probably tried reflashing the pcm. which in turn fried it due to the chip being in place.

Could be,
I'm not going to speculate though.
I have pretty much had it with this truck.
Blowing plugs, burning up CPU's, lousey brakes, and no where to put groceries.
I am in Calif right now, and this cheap donkey **** 91 octane which costs 2.60/gallon is killing me.
I am seriously consdering a Honda in my near future.
So, anyone interested in a 2001 w/40,000......

Your probably right. You should sell the truck and buy a Honda. Much more room for your groceries.

Did you every look at that large empty space behind the cab? Its called a bed. Maybe you have a tonneau cover on your truck and never bothered to look under itLot's of room for groceries there.

But your probably right, a Honda would be best for you

Now that was........ Got Damn..... funny!

Rocks

Oh...by the way...it sounds to me like your chip may have worked it's way loose.....they will do that sometimes. But it doesn't fry the computer. My opinion is the dealer probably didn't know about the chip....heck...they may still not know...LOL. They may have just pluged in the diagnostic cable...read the error code...and hopped on the phone to give ya the bad news.

I'd run down there...pull the chip....and fire up my truck.

Hey Seattle....sounds alot like what happened to me on a trip back from Tennessee. I have an '01 "L" and was running the Diablo "red" chip at the time. Was driving back and all of a sudden, all my lights went on, and then...nothing. It died on the highway. Pulled to a stop and it wouldn't restart.

After a few minutes of trouble shooting, I looked under at my chip and PCM...and sure as chit....the chip had wiggled loose. Plugged it back in...and good to go.

I would SERIOUSLY consider checking with the dealer before I start dropping money. Just my .02
