Diablo chip fried my computer
I would almost guarantee that your PCM is fine. This is a common problem with dealers who don't have a great knowledge of chips. When you have a chip plugged on the PCM, it sets a P0605 code, which is basicallya code for memory failure, because the chip is overriding it. It's a perfectly normal code when a chip has been installed, but if a dealer tech looks that code up in the service CDs, it says the PCM must be replaced. I'd talk to them and find out if this is why they think it's bad. Hope this helps.
i would like to add if the computer is indeed fried which i doubt. you should be able to get one for around 300 bucks not 600. i got one last year for 250. if you pay 600 bucks just bend over and grab your ankles b/c you know what they are doing. i will say that if your chip had wiggled out in such a way or was installed not exactly flush and it was crossed up on the contacts somewhat it will be fried. but here is a sure shot way to check and see if the computer is fried. go to the dealer and get your chip if you have a diablo dealer close to you no matter whose chip it is JLP, or whoever, a diablo dealer can plug the chip into the their programmer and do a check to see what programs is on it. if their programmer checks and there is nothing wrong with the chip then the computer is fine. but if the computer is indeed fried then it did fry the chip also. trust me what i have told you is correct just dont ask me how i know.
Part number for my ecu..same as yours 2001 Lightning is
1L3Z12A650BAB Full retail list 318.43 at our dealership i work at. Dealer cost is 206.98 If theya re charging you 600 bucks for R&R you are getting ripped. Lets say it was 1 hour diagnostic 68-100 bucks and hour just to see what the problem was and then another half hour for install, you would still be no where near 600 bucks. If you want me to check to see if that is or isnt your correct ECU part number PM me your VIN number and i will check it.

I ues to run an Autologic chip. I kept having problems with it falling out when i hit second at WOT. Yes it does shift that hard. Talked to my tuner he said he had that problem with a few of the older Autologic chips and i could drag some solder across the ecu contacts. I didnt wanna do that so i just threw my Diablo back in and havent had a problem. But when the Autologic would fall out..it would shut off and i would pull over put it in park..and restart it. Anybody wanna buy an Autologic flip chip cheap..lol
