Installing part of zex wet kit tomorrow, need alittle help.
Installing part of zex wet kit tomorrow, need alittle help.
i'm going to install the bottle and most everything else, but i have a slight problem.
i have a fuel pressure guage, with the sending unit mounted on the schrader valve on the passenger side fuel rail. where else could i mount the nitrous line, or move the sending unit for the fuel pressure guage?
i'll have pics to update as the install progresses.
later on this week i'll install the 4# pulley, and i'm thinking about getting a tweecer r/t to tune it, but i can't find anyone who has used it on a lightning, nor can i register over at tweecer.com's forums.
anyhelp would be great........

Well, maybe that says something about the tuning ability of the tweecer for a Lightning. It might be good for a stock truck, but if your adding mods, it might be better to go with one of the proven tuning devices........
As far as your nitrous questions, I don't use nitrous and can be of no help, but Iam sure once Rob02 see's this, he will be all over it like stink on chit
And if he doesn't know, he will lead you in the right direction.
The Zex kit supply's another option to take in the needed fuel

However
I don't think the Steel Braided Incoming Fuel Line they give you will be nearly long enough, you'd have to check it out.
I'd consider dumping the fuel guage, or relocating that by using
the extra parts in the Zex Kit.

You'll need a Tee for your schrader valve. It will supply fuel to the n20 controller on one side and the gauge on the other.
I've used Tweecer on an 03 Cobra and it's very nice software. However, it's a bit complex since there is hardly any documentation for support.
If you want to tune the truck yourself, I'd recommend the SCT(Superchips Custom Tuning) Racer Package. I've also used this software and have successfully tuned my 03 Cobra with nitrous and a friends mid 10 second KB 03 Cobra. It has a learning curve, but well worth it once you figure it out. You may want to have someone help you with a conservative base tune to get you started.

thanks for the help guys, rob, i could do that, but 99lightning has a good idea, but will that delay the fuel too long?
for the tweecer, i've found that the only model that works with it is the base mode......so no real time datalogging
.....so thats out the window.
i'd like to go with the sct software, but damn thats alot of money. but i guess it would save me some in the future.
today i found out that the bed liner will not let me mount the bodel corectly, b/c the lower mount sits too low, and the bottle never touches it. so i spent some time and made a flat surface to mount it on, with a soft peice wood (bring on the jokes). i'll paint it black to match for now, until i order a soft bed liner.
ron, what do you use to protect the bodel from being scratched by the bare medal? i cut up some old cleaning sponge and placed it on the bottom, but the top pecies that screw together with the wing nuts are going to scratch the bodel. right now i just cut up some more sponge and placed it under the metal.
later this week i'll go ahead and install the 4# pulley and my mac catback, and new fuel filter.
i'm just going to get everything on, and let it sit while i'm at school and save some money here and there, and learn as much as possible about he the self tunning software available in the mean-time.
anyone got any more tips that'll come in handy?
gator, sounds like you might could help me out with some tips

You need to add one of those in line with the fuel hose in the ZEX kit, you can either put it right at the fuel rail adapter or before the fuel line goes into the zex box. The sender for the fuel psi gauge threads right in, they are 1/8 NPT.
You can find it right here:

Great info Gadget
I likey the tee adt
That would be fine chiz, once the Fuel line to your guage is filled and pressurized (which it would be immediatly upon startng the Engine) you would have full 100% fuel pressure and volume available.

As for the Bottle, ya my orig bracket was crap and I had problems too. Plus I wanted a quick mount setup so I can still have full use of my bed. (as a home owner, I do use it to haul 4x8 sheets of Sheet Rock, Paneling, etc home from Home Depot often enough)
So I came up with this, I drilled the bed and used liquid steel
to insert (4) steel 1/4 / 20 inserts into the bed to remain forever.
Then I also made a platform (or steel brackets in my case) and mounted my brackets on that, and then use that to bolt and un-bolt to the bed. Later Gator hooked me up with Beautiful Brackets that did the same. By doing it this way, and simply using spaded Electrical connectors for the Bottle Warmer, I can carry out my Bottle, with the Warmer on it, Attached to the bracket, simply lay it in there, and tighten up (4) 1/4 / 20 bolts. Takes all of 1 minute and it works perfect.
There's those steel inserts, I even have them mounted on a angle using the low part of the bed so they end up below the floor surface.

Here's my orig crappy Brackets attached to Gators Wonderful Bracket, as you can see, now there is plenty of room to just remove it all as one piece, leaving the floor open for anything.

There was no way to get to the orig bolts to take it off and on easy, as you see now it's tit

well, today i got most everything done. route no2 lines to brain, fuel to brain, and out lines of both. i ordered a nitrous plate from psp, so it should be here by weekend, and i'll have everything up.
tomorrow i plan to:
paint bottle mount
install purge
wire all switches
i decided to remove the sending unit for the fuel press guage, and use the inline T that comes with the kit, to mount into a fuel line. witch line should i mount it in? pics would help.
switches:
i plan on mounting them in the overhead compartment closest to the window. how do i need to do this?
i took a look at takeing the a pillar off, but i can't see what type of bolt is holding the handle in, the damn sun was in my face casting a shadow across it, and my battery went dead on my flashlight. anyone know what size socket fits it?
i'm going to run my electric lines through the firewall (where the steering shaft goes through) up through the a pillar. now, once its there, how do i get the lines up to the overhead compartment, without the lines being visible?
next, where is a good 12v source? i've got my other guage in the fuse box, but would like to have the source under the hood.
finally, witch line is the tps? i don't have a voltage sensor, so help on this would be awesome.
i know its alot of questions, but if you have anything, it would be very helpful.
thanks
