Battery just died!
Lasted 2.5 years, beware, when the stock battery dies there is no warning, it just dies, period! Don't even try jumping it, it won't start. Anyways it just gave me an excuse to get the Red Optima battery which goes with my red truck anyways costs me $119 at Pepboys.
Yeah Frank ,we were all there talking and Mike who had an Optima in his L warned us about the stock battery just shorting out and die, and he also told us not to wait and just go ahead and change it, well today it just died, is that a coincidence or what?
The warranty on the Optima is until 2011 and replacement is up to 2007, not bad.

Im sure its just the battery, but since your going to bring it in for a Core on the new battery might as well get it tested and/or charged while you are at the auto parts store. At Autozone (my employer) we test em' for free and will fast charge. Just safe to test, don't want it to be an Alternator. I have actually had good experience with the Ford batteries. I had a '99 Mustang that I had for four years and the batt. only gave me a problem once, right before I sold it and it just needed a charge which made sense because it was winter and it had been sitting because I had been driving my new L so much
. Anyhow, I say it was good because I had a full air bag suspension with the battery running the compressors, sound system, fog lights (cobra front) and some other stuff. I guess the alternator was good too...

Replaced mine a few months ago. The OE lasted 4 years in the Florida heat. Not bad. It died once or twice in the last year of its life but an overnight charge in my garage kept it going for over a year after the last time it died.
I knew it was finally on its last legs, however, when my speedometer starting acting up. The needle would jump from 10 to 50 mph at idle. That's a "dead" giveaway that the battery is weak and soon to expire for good.
So, I made an appointment at Sears for the next morning. I was in and out in 15 minutes. They even included a complete electrical system check-up and printout. Got a 6-year guaranteed battery for about $80. Can't beat it.
