Hooking up head unit and I知 missing something simple, please help!

I have an Eclipse Head unit that I am putting into my Lightning. I have a Metra wiring harness that goes from the stock ford harness to the eclipse one. Here痴 what I have for wires on the Metra side

12 volt ignition/acc - RED
12 volt batt/memory - YELLOW
Ground - BLACK
Illumination - ORANGE
Dimmer - ORANGE/WHITE

On the head unit side (eclipse)

12 volt ignition/acc - RED
12 volt batt/memory - YELLOW
Ground - BLACK
Lamp power supply - ORANGE/WHITE

What I did was connect RED to RED, Yellow to Yellow, Black to Black, and then I was not sure what to do for the Illumination and dimmer so I connected them both to the Orange/White of the head unit harness. (the one that is listed as Lamp power supply)

Now when I turn the head unit on, and then turn on my headlights, the dash lights go out and I blow the fuse. What am I doing wrong? Does the lighting not have the ability to dim the head unit, or do I have to hook that wire up to the dimmer on the head light switch?

Thanks! I know it痴 something simple!

John

Disconnect the ORANGE wire and connect the ORANGE/WHITE wire only.
Hope that does it for you, should take care of you.
