true duals

so i'm debating over a JLP chip or a true dual setup from my local shop. It's an awfully good deal on the duals. 350 installed. MY question is can i eliminate 2 of the cats without throwing a code? He wants to do 2.5" all the way through, and he thought if we took 2 of them out we'd throw a code. But then how do the 2 cat mid pipes work?? Which two can we get rid of if any? He's a very competent welder/bender who has done work for me and my friends before, but we werne't entirely sure what we can get away with without throwing a code. (i think i said throw a code about a bajillion times.. but i dont care ). So i'mt hinkin of doing this and saving the chip for later b/c of hte good price and me craving more sound out of the motor.

From what I've read, you will throw a code if you remove the catalytic convertors unless you a) use MIL eliminators or b) turn off the code via your chip.

For what it's worth, straight pipes on Lightnings sound mean and loud, but very crude and almost like glass-packish. You're better off going with an aftermarket catback for a more refined, deeper tone.

If you want to get something custom-made, you can replace the cats with an offroad pipe or hi-flow units, but keep the mufflers.

i'm definitely keeping mufflers on it, i was just wondering if some of the cat's could go without having to use MIL eliminators. which makes me wonder how the 2-cat midpipes work??? i dont have the chip yet and probably wont for another six months (goign to school, truck not coming with me for at least six months)
