Blown Plug, No Mods
Blown Plug, No Mods
Chalk up another member on the blown plug list. 2001, <20K miles and no mods and I just launched the third plug back on the passenger side. The original 3-year warranty just ran out on the 2nd of this month! The dealer actually worked with me and I basically just bought an extended powertrain warranty to 75,000 miles for $500 and they're covering the rest! At least I'll have the new heads and shouldn't have this problem again.
The dealer's comment to me was that "this is something that almost never happens." Not from what I've read.

Nope, I asked. They're only going to replace the one head. I kind of let it go because I'm planning on selling it soon anyway. I'll just let the buyer know, and that it should be covered under the extended warranty if the other side decides to go. I still haven't decided what vehicle to get next. Too many choices.
Is there an easy way of telling if the heads have been replaced on a L?? Lets say I was interested in an '01 or '02 L.. Can I make a call to Ford with VIN and get a service report on the vehicle?? Can I just pull a spark plug out and look? I dont know how easily accessible the spark plugs (and being able to see the threads) are on a L. I will have a L before this year is up! Thx for any info.
