So Confused.

Mods so far:
6# Pulley
Diablo dual chip
Airaid Intake with custom cold air set up
160 Degree Stat
DS loop
Slicks
Traction bars

Now here is why I am confused. I have ran a best of 12.6@107mph on my old street tune. But lately I am getting bored with the truck and I need more speed. I even contemplated selling it but figured I would have to buy another sports car plus something else to tow with. So I decided to mod it a bit more and then get a sports car (Vette/Viper/Porsche) in a couple of years.

Anyway enough background info. The reason I am so confused is I can’t think of what I want to do. I am so torn between a small shot of Nitrous (55hp shot), or a Magnum powers case. Since I want to keep the block stock I cant do both. I even made a post months ago and got some info. I have since been reading every post about NOS and Magnum but just cant make up my mind. Things I thought about….

With N20 I always have to fill up the bottle, and the power is not always there.

On the plus it runs 12.6@107mph without the N20 so that’s good enough for the streets and I can just run the N20 at the track or on very special occasions. (Viper hunting)

With the Magnum powers.. I will need a new pulley since I would think that a 6# lower on a Magnums power would be too much on a stock block. As well as a new tune.

On the plus the power is always there and in the long run it would be cheaper then filling up the Bottles. (May take a few years though depending on how often I use the N20)

Urrrrrrrr sooo confused. My goal is to run high high 11's @ about 113mph or so. I would even be happy with very low 12's.

Sorry for the rant. Feel free to add your 2 cents to help me decide.

,Jason

I look at it this way, as you say mid 12's is PLENTY for the street,
so why not only put it under that extra stress when you Spray it. Plus lets face it, you can't hook with it now, or at least I can't. As for the Bottle Fill up's, you'd be surprised how much you can get out of a tank on the street, think about it, most of the times you get on it, it's only for seconds at a time, THATS ALL IT TAKES
Plus you can always get one of these Digital Controls like I have and make the Street Nitrous use much safer, and actually get some traction while doing it.

But even with that said, I still want a Magnum Powers S/C

I know what you mean, im also looking for more power but im going to go with a magnum powers blower, I think the new blower is safer than nitrous, and I need a new tune anyways, I have a superchip flipchip now but im going with a diablo this time.

I run a #6 pound pulley lower with my Magnum Powers on the street and track. The truck has run high 11's in high heat on the stock block with the new SCT 9100 tune that JDM put on it. I have most mod's including #50 injectors but stock fuel pumps. You can feel the power, oh yeah, seat of the pants...

What size is your upper pulley John? I know you said you were seeing over 20#'s at Fun Ford.

Chances are, you'll need a new tune when adding nitrous (even a small shot). I would go with an MP so you never have to use the excuse "oh, well my bottle is empty"

Is that on a stock block?

Thanks for the reply guys. Rob, Seeing your success with nitrous along with others makes it very tempting. On the other hand having the power always there is nice to have.

Still confused. Thats it I am going back to stock! LOL
