Why is the shaker so expensive?

Isn't the famed shaker hood based off of the stock hood? Is it expensive because the OEM hood from Ford is?

I would have to say it's due to the addition cost of the manufacturing of the shaker scoop and brackets.

So is an OEM Ford hood the base for the aftermarket shaker hood? I'm also wondering because I would like to know if it is aluminum or not.

Where did ou get that grill, its awsome.

Also Ive always wanted a shaker hood, but I want an agressive one. Kinda like the Mach 1, where the shaker is one a good size bump in the middle of the hood not just the normal flat stocl hood. IS this possible?

Cost

Shaker hood is not based off anything. It's a full fiberglass piece.

Weight is about 3 lbs more than a stock aluminium hood.

They are expensive because it's a huge chunck of Fiber and it's very low production.

Besides. It will cost you at LEAST $500 to paint it... a new hood is never a cheap endeavor.

31C, the shaker hood is the only two piece hood available.
The shaker is just a tad bit smaller than the Mach1 hood.
The grill is an 03 HD.

You're right on the money Coldie. I paid 550.00 for prep/paint/install.

You can either spend 350.00 buying one from ford or
buy a used from somebody off one of the HD boards.
Feel free to email if you have any further questions

LFP sells them for 850.00 shipped. 3 LBS heavier is not true.
I believe it weighs between 30-40 lbs. I don't really recall.
