Fall SSOTN event. Tuner shootout. $$$$
Fall SSOTN event. Tuner shootout. $$$$
Its time to let dyno's walk and ET's talk, so here is the deal.
JJ@JJ's SVT Performance is offering up $1000 cash to the tuner that lays down the quickest ET at this falls SSOTN event. This challenge is open to all tuners, including JJ himself (if he wins, he will most likely spend it on strippers and beer) but thats besides the point. (GenII's only)
As the old saying goes, "Dynos walk and ET's talk", so LETS GET READY TO RUMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEE"
He also told me that he is offering up $250 to the quickest non tuner GenII Lightning and $250 to the quickest GenI Lightning and $250 to the quickest H/D that day.
The only rule is that your truck must be compliant to the rules set forth for your particular ET.
I think this is a great idea and my H/D will be in attendance.
So, who's up for a little challenge?
Later...
Bruce

All tuners that go for the 1k cash, must agree to give the money to charity, specifically the spina bifida foundation in the name of Corey Thompson of Jacksonville Florida. More info on how to donate will be available at the race.

Unfortunatly Sal's Truck prob won't be done by then, so no PSP,
Jim hasn't had one running for years, so no JDM
REM ever finish their's ? I never hear anything about that ?
I guess that leaves Johnny + JJ, (does Tommy have something) ?
ANYONE ELSE ???
But to answer the question
HELLZ YA WE WANT TO SEE A TUNER SHOW DOWN
Now we just need the Tuners to get L's, or get them running
I commend Johnny for still testing on his own truck, and going out there and running IN A CLASS OF HIS OWN
(I think it's gonna be quite a while before anyone betters that ET)
and I think better ET's are coming from him soon, but I also think Dale got some tricks up his sleeve

Let me see if I can summarize.
JJ is promotiing a race class that no Tuner can legally run his best time in and if you win you have to give the money to JJ's charity .... - I wonder who gets the Tax deduction ....
JJ - wouldnt it be easier to just give the Grand to the charity ?
The race doesnt appear to be set up to raise additional money for the charity. Its seems setup just to spotlight your business and an attempt to get free publicity while donating or talking about donating $1000 to a charity...
Interesting approach...
Doug
PS - I know that people will now take shots at me - Accusing me of not being charitable. Well - You are right - I dont advertise my charitable donations on the internet.

Doug, Sal et al;
This charity is already setup in the young mans name, the winner of the event will get the check made out in the winners name, it is up to him and the honor system to send the money to the Spina Bifida foundation, the address and information will be given on the day of the event. No money goes into my pocket at all.
Secondly, the rules set forth by the track are what the truck needs to follow. If they tech you in and you are allowed to race then you will be eligible for the prize money. If you are told during the event that you are no longer allowed to run because you dont meet the safety criteria, I will take your best time into consideration before the "boot". I strongly urge everyone to race as safe as possible and to adhere to the rules set forth by the track, we dont need someone getting hurt.
Thirdly, the SSOTN race is their race and this is just an informal shootout that is separate from their race. It was my hopes that we could get most of the tuners together and have some fun while allowing customers rides to compete for cash. I am offering up cash in the hopes of making this falls SSOTN event bigger and more exciting than ever. It will also give the fans something fun to watch.
Sal, I remember a time not so long ago when your dog got sick and you asked for and recieved alot of donations from this community, we'll this is a way for you to help a sick child that has a lifelong illness and it would be a great way for you to get more exposure, so in the long run, you will benefit.
As usual, certain people's reservations about me will come into play during this discussion, but the main goals of this race is to have fun, try to get the fastest trucks together and raise some money for a charity. If nobody is interested or has thousands of excuses as to why they wont race at this event, then I will just send the money to the charity myself.
Thanks Bruce
JJ

Bruce, I have nothing against charity or what you guys are trying to do. I just think (as Doug said), you guys are going about it all wrong. If you want to do an event for charity, do it right. Take some of the entry fees, have donations, donated door prizes, etc etc. If you want to do it the way you are doing it, then you should have bracket race, with average ET trucks, and then have the winner of that make the donation. You can't expect people with 50-60k worth of trucks, risking breakage and costly damage trying to run a number, show up for a "chance" to give someone the winnings. The last few times I had my truck out, trying to push the envelope cost me thousands of dollars. If you want the big numbers trucks to put on a show, you need to reward the winner. If you can't do that, then you should consider my bracket idea.
Maybe I am reading something wrong here. I have no idea who this guy JJ is but you all are a bunch of ungreatful ......
This is an event that someone is coming out of pocket for a good cause and it seems to be done without anything expected in return except that some sick kid gets a G for his doctor bills.
Instead of the people that run this site complaining about this guys generousity and twist it into looking like he has other motives (a tax deduction,,,come on with that) , why don't you pull up your skirt, grab your *****, and come up with a G of your own money to add to the pot.
If you can't do that then you know you are slow... and probably should stay home anyway.
It is about bragging rights on here only 100%. If you know you are the fastest then you should not have a problem coming up with another G.
Just think if we have enough tuners with ***** then the tuners have a shot at making some money. say 5 tuners , 5 k, and 1-2-3-4-5k can be donated, so you donate a minimum of 1k and can take home 4k(that is a new motor if schitttt happens)
if i am out of line,,,i apologize

WOW, this post sure changed since this moring
Ahh that would explain it.
I'm in hock up to my frigging eyebrows, but I'd still be willing to give, SOMETHING ?
BUT I got to agree that asking someone to put their Motor on the line, going for your Best ever ET, against the best out there, and then saying you need to give it away,
is just not the right way to do it.
Charge us more to get in, schitt I'd pay an extra $25.00 to help this poor guy out. 100 in the gate would bring more than Double the 1K
