Lost cleaning nozzle in intake!
Lost cleaning nozzle in intake!
This might not be good. I was using some STP throttle body cleaner and I was cleaning my throttle plates. I had the long red plastic spray nozzle on the can and I was spraying into my throttle body when the red nozzle blew off and shot straight into my intake and probably down the manifold! I took a flashlight and looked up in the intake and it is no where to be found. I assume it landed on the intercooler and won't get sucked into my engine but I don't know for sure. Any opinions??
If you are using spray cleaner around your intake, leave the red nozzle off for God's sake! Lesson learned here, but I hope not the hard way.

You might want to pull off the top plenum which is the part where the TB bolts too. That plastic piece can get lodged in the blower rotors and maybe damage them...It won't make it to the IC until the blower rotors chew it up....

Hey Rio,
Welcome to my world !!!
I bought a Suzuki DRZ 400E trail bike and was hanging out on this forum see.
This kid makes a post about how he is adjusting the valves on the overhead cam engine and drops a washer or something down the spark plug hole.
He gets 10 or 12 posts about how to take the head off and all that and then this old timers writes. Take the gas tank off and turn your bike upside down and give it a good shaking.
The kid posts back blissfully happy that he did that and the part came falling right out and he is back ridding it.
Now all we got to do is use some good logic and solve your problem with the least amount of effort.
If nothing else just loosen the idler arm to the SC belt and turn it over by hand and feel for drag.
I honestly would hate it if that happened to me but it isn't the end of the world. My teflon was flaking off the rotors and was laying all over the intercooler when I changed it at about 22k miles. I doubt your plastic straw thing would hurt any worse.
Personally I would dig until I found it. But you could drive it until you have the time to look deeper. IMHO

I got it out! I was thinking of pulling the intake and I decided to try something. I cut a piece of 1-2 inch clear hose I had laying around and duct taped it to the hose on my shop vac. I opened the butterfly and ran the slim hose in and out of the intake about 15 times. I took the top of the shop vac and the red nozzle was laying in the vac canister.
I didn't use enough of it to get the rotors wet so I don't think flaking will be a problem.
I have been wrenching on cars and jet skis all my life and I have never had anything that silly happen before. I guess it happens sooner or later. Thanks for the posts with legitimate concerns and advice. Good logic does work EZGZ.

Four small bolts and the Throttle Body comes off,
There is a fairly sharp bend in our Upper, it's hard to beleive it
made it past that, Try that first, it'll take less than 5 minutes to do.
IF it did SOMEHOW blow through the Upper, and is laying on the Rotors, the Upper has a mere six small bolts holding that on, again a very simply job, maybe 10 minutes and you will need a 1/4" universal and I believe a 7mm socket.
(be careful the bolts are real schitt, and will snap VERY EASY)
If all else fails, turn the truck over and shake the schitt out of it (For this you will need a few friends to lend a helping hand)

personally, I don't think you have anything to worry about, thousands of Lightning have eating many a spark plug without a problem, and the tips and porcelain are obviously a hell of a lot stronger than a POS plastic straw, but of course you should try and get it out first

Glad to hear you got it out Rio
Hey look at that it only took 20 minutes for my reply to post,
after I hit "Sumit Reply" WOO HOO, it's finally getting faster
BTW
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AROUND HERE LATELY ???
Been like 3 - 6 months now of slooooooooooooooooow moving pages, blank pages that you must hit refresh on, extremly long waiting time (and jam ups when posting a reply), the dreaded double post are back, and to boot it's ok to ask someone to marry you, but you cant wish your family a Happy 4th
(ok thats obviously a diff problem, BUT STILL A PROBLEM)

Yeah, I can't believe it blew in there that far. What's the odds of it going straight in like a bullet. I would think that it would cross up and not even go in the tb. It scared the hell out of me at first but then like Rob said, plastic v/s metal isn't much of a contest. I am glad it's out though!
