Unhappy dyno results not good

i really feel like ***** after going to the dyno today. heres the story the first time i went to the dyno with a lower4, 90 maf, reflash and filter i shot a 384 hp and 479trq. now i added long tubes, a poted blower, upper 2, TB, heat exchanger, thunder pipe and the dyno results came as 381 hp and 454 trq. what the hell im so pissed about the time and money i put into it and didnt get crap out of these mods. when i went to the dyno the guy said it was because of the porting job the air flow was bad. im stuck now . what do i do? i feel like getting rid of the darn thing. please help if you have any suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.

where are you A/F's?? You could be really really rich?? with almost 6lbs extra boost and the port, you may need bigger fuel injectors too..Could be running out of fuel..

Dont know, just an idea....sure many will have others..

Good luck getting it worked out

edit...I think 6lbs and a port are okay for the 42's, sorry was thinking 6 on the bottom and 2 on the top, you said 4....my bad

I'd be pissed too Wht, sorry Bro
Of course you should be easily into AND OVER the 400/500 mark with those Mods, But don't go giving up just yet.

A few questions if I may ?

Was it the same Dyno ?
Same conditions, Temp ? Humidy ? etc...
Did you feel a loss of power when you did the Ported Eaton ?
Maybe the Long tubes (eveyone talks about loosing torque there)

I got to tell you, you have all the right Mods, PROVEN MODS,
(well ok the jury's still out on the Ported Eatons)
They seem to react diff with every L, def not consistent thats for sure. However I'm happy as hell with my Wasp, seems to be making globs of power, and many others are happy with their Aptens, Wasps, etc...

I'm going to throw something out that may help.

Each and everytime I ran the same day at the same track with 4lbs and also 6lbs of Pulley,
I RAN FASTER EVERY ENTIRE TIME WITH 4LBS INSTEAD OF 6.
I REPEAT -->EVERYTIME (without Nitrous I'm talking)

Why do I continue to run with 6lbs on the street you ask, THE BOOST OF COURSE Actually I did race it three times with 6lbs PLUS Nitrous, 2 were slower than my usual ET, the one that was faster was on a 20 degree colder day than before, and I also added 10 Nitrous HP that day, so I strongly believe thats the only reason I ran faster THAT ONE TIME, AND THAT ONE DAY. To tell you the truth, I plan on going back to RACING only with 4lbs.

Ok now to my point

"IF" it was Hot or Hotter THIS TIME you Dyno'd,
there is DEF a very good chance standing still on a Dyno getting NO good clean cool air, actually worked against you and created lower numbers.

I talk from personal experience, with lower ET's EACH AND EVERY TIME I tried running more boost IN THE HEAT (and I'd say I tried it at least 6 diff times on diff days and on diff tracks)
Yes I know people run 8 and run 11's, but it's all about Temp and Tune.

What timing are you running ?
What were your A/F's ? BOTH TIMES ?
Can we please see the Dyno Sheet ?

There is a simple answer here, we just need more info,
DONT WORRY BRO, THE POWER IS IN THERE.....

One more thought.........There is a butterfly valve at the back of your S.C. (inside it) Make sure it is not stuck open. This will allow boost to bypass.

Could we see pics of your dyno curve, with a ported SC your torque might be less but your curve should be more flat and more consistent through the whole rpm range than before which means more available troque from bottom to top. Just a thought.

no way

even if he was running rich, with that combo he should hit 400-500 easily. I would say your boost actuator isn't adjusted correctly.

thank you guys for the great reply's. ill will put up the dyno pic and wll call the dyno for the afs.

it was the same dyno but the temps were a little higher yesterday. i was seeing 13lbs before the port now max is 10 i think it could be the boost actuator.i never thought of it. and this combo i should be seeing 400/500 at least

Suavy sorry im not a member but i would love to stop by the shop.

can someone help me put the dyno sheets up, i dont know how.

There's been issues with others who have had their blower ported - the actuator is either stuck open, or misadjusted. Get that corrected, and I'm sure you'll see the #'s you're looking for

WhtSvt your not alone

Probally every Lighting owner (me included) who has bought insanely high priced mods from the tuners have been pretty much disapointed with results.(not all) Maybe instead of making claims they should just say "Can't Hurt" and looks good. I bought a new L in 2000 spent a ton of $ on mods. The chip and pulley was the best ones the rest not much results. I think putting them all together definetly helped specialy the ones that took off weight. I ended up with 394rwhp & 495tq , that was almost 2yrs ago when I took to Jerry@ FordChips.com for reflash. I havent added any hp mods of any kind since that dyno I just sit back and tried to make my L as quick as I could with the HP I had(weight and aero) Maybe we need a topic or sticky to post the quickest times with the least amount of mods. That might get people thinking on there own a little instead of working their nuts off to buy the lastest and greatest "Can't hurt and Looks Good stuff". I've taken this approach for the last 2yrs it's netted me a 12.09@113. That was on a prefect world day. I average 12.15's -12.26 now in summer. Since I think I finally hit the wall of phyics I'm ready to mod my L this winter (1200hp Turbo w/gluide). What ever. Ed

Like I said I have no idea, it was only an Idea and thats it, but wasnt it Rob02 himself that said he was snubbed around 50 hp because his A/F's wouldnt even read above 10??

You listed your own problem; 10 pounds of boost isn't going to cut it. You should be seeing over 15 You either have a boost acctuator adjusted wrong, or you have major belt slippage.
