01 Lightning or 03 Cobra(help)

Hey guys, I think a lot of your opinions. I need some advice. I sold my 5.0 with plans of getting a Lightning. But I just found a great deal on a 03 Cobra. Which would you buy? Obviously, most of guys own Lightning's but a few of you have 03 Cobra's to. Which would you chose?

2003 Mustang Cobra
22,000 miles
All stock expect catback/shifter
$22,500

2001 Ford Lightning
25,000 miles
JL 4lb lower supercharger pulley, JDM chip, K&N intake, NGK TR6 spark plugs
$24,900obo

Buy what makes you happy. I have both and it is to hard to say which one I would let go. However it is real easy to make a Cobra go fast.......and a lot less money.

Get the Cobra. It is cheaper than the L you're looking at and can easily handle 700rwhp. The L on the other hand, already has mods and doesn't hold up to these mods nearly as long as the Cobra would. In my opnion, the L is an accident waiting to happen which is why I've kept mine stock. Mod the hell outta the Cobra with no worries and with that 2K in savings over the L, you'll have a pretty god head start. Good luck.

I forgot to add, the 03 Cobra is far away. It would cost $1275 to ship to my house. So, it would be $23,775 shipped. Doesn't the price on the Lightning seem high? It does say best offer though. What would be fair? $22,000? The Lightning is about 10 hours away. I would probably drive down and get it. It looks great in the pictures.

I'm to dang big to fit in a cobra. I wish they had a little more room inside. If they did I might give one a whirl for a couple years

Get the Lightning . You will be very happy with it.

They are two completely different vehicles.

Why was it that when you heard about the Cobra you even considered it?

What are your reasons for wanting the L in the first place?

After you have considered the answers to these questions by yourself, alone, in a quiet room, if you still don't know which of the two you want, do the following...

(This is serious...your immediate gut reaction will tell you what you really want to do).

Now, not to spoil how this works...I will post the first part of this exercise here in this post now.

After you do what I instruct you to do, remember in detail what you thin and do and say, then go to this post to complete the rest of the exercise.

When you are done you will know what to do.

Ready?

Go get a quarter. Flip it. If it's heads you will buy the Lightning, if it's tails you must get the Cobra....

Now go to part two...

Im sort of in the same boat.

On one hand I can get a "leftover" 03 Cobra for $29,750. Looking around the Mustang boards and seeing how easy it is to get those cars to run high 11s (provided one learns to lauch it, which I hear is a PITA) makes the Cobra very tempting. My test drive was impressive, but the pedals didnt agree with my size 13.5 Nikes. Being big doesnt always work out.

On the other hand, I could live with a truck. My uncle had an 01 and I loved it. It fits a big guy nicely. And being in the construction business, being able to haul around things when needed is a definate plus. The 04s ive priced are all "normal" from what ive read on here and other boards, right around $30,000 and as low as $28,000.

All in all, Im about 90% sure ill be getting the Lightning. Unless I find an absolutely smokin' deal on a 04 Comp Orange Cobra.

So anyway, id suggest you decide what you need more: utility and fun or pure go-fast goodness.
