Does Color Alter IAT / performance ?
Ok, this is kinda interesting, at least I thought so. I was cruising down the road today watching my IAT, and IAT2 in the Texas summer heat im real big into watching Air temps. My truck is black and I noticed how much my Intake air temp was after sitting in the sun, it was 115 to 120 deg, and it was 86 to 90 deg outside. Even after running down the freeway for a while it only dropped to about 96. Then out of curiousity I was cruising at a consistant 45 mph, and popped the hood open. The IAT went from 96deg to 86 in a matter of seconds, same as the outside air temp reading. A 10 deg difference from popping the hood, Yeah I know thats not very safe if your going 130 but 10 degrees is 10 degrees.
SO, I was curious if a ram air is really needed, more so than a white L?. And do white / silver L's actually have a cooler IAT? Obviously cooler air is always better.
I also have a power cooler and after I packed it with Ice and opened the hood the IAT2 went from 124 to 114! . Thats pretty dern cool air in texas heat. Imagine 65 deg outside air temp. What do you all think.
