'99 L Specs...

Hey, guys,

What is the stock power on a 1999 L? I gather there was a boost in performance to 380bhp around 2001?

Also - does the supercharger have a "blow off" (Dump) valve? If so, are there any aftermarket ones available so you can hear it? The "Ppppppiiiissssssssshhhh" sound that the hondas make?

Thanks for any info!

I don't wanna be like rice (rice is cheaper to buy!) but I do like the sound of Dump Valves! Is there one on the L?

Really!? How does the boost back pressure get distributed, then? Is it a recirculating dump valve?

Confused!

1999's are the best, anyone else is just a 99 wannabie the lack of speed is easily changed with chip filter n MAF

Yeah, but a Turbo-charger is just an exhaust driven supercharger! The air-flow principals are identical, so the "pppiiiisssssshhhh" sound would have been easily achieveable were the waste-gate external to the blower. Suppose I'll just have to wait until I get the truck turbo converted!!

So is it the case that with a chip and the MAF, the 99's can get to the same power as the later L's with no ill effect to the engine?

Sorry for so many questions - this is only the second Ford I've ever owned in my life, and my first pickup truck!

Not having direct drive like our Supercharger throws in a big varialbe and you need that waste gate on the turbo to live.

You got it figured right on the upgrades to update your 99.

The nice thing about our boost bypass is that your actualy being kinder to your engine than a none supercharged 5.4 cause we have a tad lower compression ratio. The power is there when you want it and it can easily be messed with. Some folks unplug the electrics and claim no ill effects.

Welcome to the board.
