From: Colorado,
Crash Helmut ?

Our fun ford weekend is here in Denver or the equvilant.
Phil long Ford"whatever"

Anyway, I am pretty excited about going and thought if I got the chance to run down the track I would give it a go.

I have this Full Face dirt bike helmut I got with my DRZ400 in 2001 and I know there must be some sort of safety requirements at the track to run.

All it says on my helmut at the outside back is Snell M2000 DOT.

Will this satisfy the inspectors.

What else do I have or do to race to have to race?

I took off my pig steel wheel spare tire and weighed it. 70#

Snell 2000 is perfectly legal, you'll be fine. Make sure to have a d/s loop if you're running slicks, and that should cover you're required safety stuff.

you also need some type of traction bar is you are running slicks.
(prevent the rear end from wrapping and busting the driveshaft)

Yeah, the Snell 2000 is good. Most tracks only require the Snell 95. Don't forget the basics, wear pants, bring a fire extinguisher (you should ALWAYS have one of those) and the driveshaft loop is a good idea. Don't overburnout and kick some ***.

From: Colorado,
Ok, Thanks guys.

Your getting way ahead of me on the race stuff. I am bone stock except for the chip and I doubt I will even warm up the tires.

I am just curious as to how she will do on this trip. I will prolly just stage/shoot.

There talking rain today and tomorrow so the whole day might be a wash.

I will be checking out the swap meet and looking to meet some local L brothers.

You just watch me. I have no self control. I wish Rob would get us some numbers so I can decide if I want to give Racetested a call.
I want something easy, fast, simple, reliable that I can remove if needed.
Not asking for much am I. (I am getting excited)

You guys have missed an important detail -- EZGZ's helmet is M2000, which is a motorcycle helmet.

The comparable automotive spec is SA2000. SA helmets are also fire tested.

FFW may or may not allow M-spec helmets. My guess is not.

SA2000's are about 199.00 and I have seen the SA95
on the net for about 49 ... Do not take the chance of
not being able to participate ... Most tracks are not close to
a retail shoppe and you will get raped anyway.

not to be an *** or anyhting, but honestly, when you are driving 100mph in a 4800lb truck, what good is a helmet going to do?

"Objection, your honor. Irrelevant. Compliance with a duly enacted rule is the only issue -- not the underlying wisdom of the rule."

"Sustained. One more frivolous remark from you, Mr. Menace, and you'll be spending the night here. And this Court finds that you indeed are an ***."

And wonder why the drivers use fire suits? Huh? Three layer even?

I want all the protection I can get ...

PS... and I only slow to a hundred in the corners

Your honor I'll gladly explain the relevancy of the helmet infront of the jury, since opposing counsel failed to ask to approach...

Nevermind you honor, I'm too tired.

From: Colorado,
Well, screw it! Guess I will just have to take my chances with my M2000. I read if you don't go faster than 13.99 you don't even have to have a helmut???

Anyway, maybe they will let me squirt down the track a few times just for giggles durring the time trials. Don't know that this is going to be my cup of tea anyway. I just love being around and participating in anything that has to do with fast cars and hot women.
One year at the nationals I got a nice shot with one of them Budwieser girls on each arm. (whoo hoo, blush blush) they were good sports and played it up. Course thats there job to humor dirty old men right?
