Horse power/ Lakewoods
Horse power/ Lakewoods
I just recently went to jdm for a dyno tune and my numbers were 398 hp with 497 pounds of torque. This is all with just a single chip/4# pulley/ Air filter/ heat exchanger. i bought lakewood traction bars a while ago and now with these numbers i am ready to get a pair of slicks and see how well i can do. I was wondering if the lakewoods are good enough and strong enough to hold up to a pair of hoosiers. If so what spacing should i have on the lakewoods to ensure my driveshaft will still be in tact. Thanks for the help
As for spacing everyone is going to tell you something differant.
I liked 1-1/4" - 1-3/4" when I was running Truck Traks.
When you launch "or preload" the snubber will kick up and lock in IMMEDIATLY, diff spacing won't change that all that much as long as your not over @ 1-1/2 " away from contact.
WHERE IT DOES play a part is comfort during daily driving, set them too close and go over a speed bump and you'll know what I mean
It does seem 3/4" - 1" is a good compromise. I set mine @ there when I ran the 11.81 (which answers your next question)
The Slapper Style Bars were excellent for comfort and street drivability, they were also very good to me with 60ft times,
pretty much 1.6 everytime w/ Juice, and 1.6 - 1.7 without juice.
They were also very comfortable and stable while I was running 12.7, 12.5, and even in the 12.3 range. HOWEVER as soon
as I got to the 12.2, 12.1, and ESPECIALLY the 12.0's, the started working against me and lifting the rear of the truck right off the ground on my launch. Many had the same issue when they got into the low 12's, at that point you will have no choice but to go
for the 58" Rancho Style Bar.
At your power level I think you'll be fine FOR NOW,
but I just know you'll add mods and get faster, we all do

I used Lakewoods with my Hoosier slicks and they worked great.
I had mine set about 3/4" from the Leaf spring.
Only complaint I had is when i "accidentally" got the truck sideways, I could feel the lakewoods working against me. (hitting the leafs as I'm accidentally sideways)
but for the track they worked Very well.
MAKE SURE YOU UPGRADE WEAK..

Is snubbber spacing the only factor that effects ride quality? I always had mine set real close and the ride was real harsh. Now both snubbers are gone and the ride is still real harsh. Normal? Or do I have the actuall bars positiond wrong?
This is the actual Picture Truck Trak Uses for their ad.
You can get an idea of the placement and snubber distance.

Here's a couple of when I had them on my L, hard to see I know..

(WOW I actually had some thread on my tires back then, hehehe)

I had NO Drivability issues with mine, AMOF I miss the comfort,
the 58" Bars DO effect the drivability comfort
