Gauges, what type mechanical or electrical?
Gauges, what type mechanical or electrical?
Hey guys I was wondering what fuel pressure and trans temp gauge to go with, mechanical or electrical?
I am leaning to electrical because I dont want to run fuel into the cab.
Any opinions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Simon

Yeah, I'm thinking about the same thing. Not sure about which way to go, but I'm leaning towards electric.
Heck, I'm still choosing the ones to go with. Definitely one for the nitrous, and two more. I'm not really sure I care about getting an aftermarket boost gauge. I wish I'd had the money for the Wideband Commander a couple of weeks ago. Oh well.

The other 2 are self-explanatory.
Without question, I'd suggest going with the electrical components. The potential dangers of having pressurized fuel, oil, etc pointed at your face while driving justify the costs of electrical senders..
I had a fuel pressure/nitrous pressure setup in my previous vehicle, and was strongly urged towards an electrical sender setup for this reason.
Good luck

After the same consideration I decided to go with a boost gauge an a fuel gauge. It is my opinion that once your a/f is set in your program or chip you really shouldn't have to monitor it nor the trans temp. But the fuel gauge a very important one really can be measured effectively by an electronic gauge, keep in mind the fluctuations that you are looking for are drastic - like a 10lb fuel difference or drop at WOT and your electric gauge will do just that. The mechanical although more sensitive isn't really necessary for typical street and our level racing. The boost gauge, well after investing in my KB I wanted to make damn sure I was holding a consistent boost at WOT. I went with the lunar gauges from REM and I am very happy with them!
Good Luck in your decision!

Autometer probably makes the best guages for the money. If you want to spend the extra money then I would recommned "Defi". Much higher quality and you can get them in U.S. versions. The piggy back system for multiple gauges is very nice and you just have a multi wire plug instead of loose raw wures for the connections. The main control box is nice for recording and playback. These gauges are expensive though. Looking at about $500 for the two gauges and control box.
