367 Rwhp Stock Lightning

Just got my 03 Lightning dynoed for the first time today. Truck is completely stock besides boost-by-pass which does nothing anyways.

367 RWHP
418 LBTQ

The guy at the shop was truly amazed. His 2001 dynoed 331 when it was stock. The only downside to this was the A/F Ratio came in at 13.8 to 1. The tech was pretty worried. What do you guys think. Installing the predator and pulley on monday.
If anyone wants pics just tell me how to post them.

Those are some good numbers for a stock truck, but your running way to lean, you really need to add some fuel before you damage your engine. one reason your stock horsepower numbers are high is because your truck is running so lean.

yeah i know its lean. I just got a tune from RWTD and when the pulley and tune are in place it is supposed to bring it down to 11.5 to 1. Hoping to make 400 RWHP with the chip and pulley.
We'll see wednesday

I highly doubt you will make 400 rear wheel horsepower with just those mods. So don't get your hopes up. But good luck.

#1 I think your should try racing without the boost by-pass and then come back and tell us IT DOES NOTHING

and #2 I think you need to change your fuel filter TODAY
if you plain on keeping the Rods in your motor.
"If" thats not why your running lean, you got other prob's that need to be addressed immediatly with that dangerous A/F of yours.

With that said
Awesome Power Bro, CONGRATS AND BEST OF LUCK

BTW JP aka Bubba aka RWTD is an awesome tuner,
your going to Love his tunes...........

i meant the boost-by-pass does nothing for power on a dyno. And if the motor does throw a rod......its still stock as of right now. RWTD told me the tune will put me in the 11.5 to 1 range. But why did the truck come so lean from the factory? I heard they run pig rich.

I pulled 398 rwhp with chip, 4# lower and drop in K&N filter SAE corrected. 400 can be done with the right tune

Hey Rob. I thought the boost bypass only kept the L from dumping boost if you hit the rev limiter in the burnout box, or if the truck sensed the motor rev'ing too quickly. Otherwise, I was under the impression you are losing nothing leaving it stock. Does it "leak" some boost in stock form?

Your MAF might be dirty. That can cause you to run lean with any tune. Spray the MAF element with electrical component cleaner. Easy thing to do.

A tuner should be able to read your fuel trim values before they change anything. This might help determine why a stock truck would run so lean.

Also, keep in mind that a shop's sensor can be inaccurate for several reasons. Was the truck lean only near max power or was it lean all through the pull? Was the sensor just in the end of the tailpipe? What was the ventilation like? If the outside of a wideband sensor (the oxygen reference) is exposed to exhaust gases, it will cause a false lean reading.

Hey Jim... I made 400 with just a #4 and a micro-tuner. at 800 feet above sea level I also made 359 stock and an 03 with a aftermarket air box made 348 a few minutes later. Maybe his engine was a little hotter than mine?? maybe...maybe my truck is just a little strong than the next like yours ?? I would expect your truck is about the same as any other ........those are great nimbers for stock and remember temperature and altitude affect air density (as well as humidity) which affects real world H.P. and it makes me wonder how accurate these "corrected" dynos are. Dynojet's rule of thumb is that a 1% increase in power occurs for every 10 degrees F cooler... I guess there accurate enough. Ford rated our motor at 380 at a sea level altitude with the IAT around 70. In the winter time when its cold out this same motor can be making 400 to 410 just due to the increased air density.
Altitude plays a big part in our motors H.P. becuase of density...what is your hometown elevation??? Trucks that are around sea-level like Florida or Texas..., well they have 17 % more power than say someone living in Denver...the air is 17% less dense in Denver
