Engine Gaskets

I am going to start reassembly of the engine when it gets back from the machine shop. Question is what are you built guys doing for gasket sets? Are you going back OEM? I don't see any on the lightning vendor's websites and don't hear anyone speaking of them. I am doing ALL This because of a leaking headgasket so i don't want to make the mistake again. Input needed!!

I think most people are using the stock ones. Head gaskets are part#3U7Z-6051-BA for drivers side and #3U7Z-6051-AA for the passenger side. I have reused the intake manifold gaskets along with the upper plenum and TB gaskets. But you can get them new from Ford if they are damaged or if you just want to make sure they work. I'd replace the exhaust manifold gaskets with the stock ones also unless you have ported exhaust ports which are bigger than the gasket.

I just used stock, they are multi layer steel and plenty strong.

I believe that Fel Pro makes an replacment gasket, but frankly, there is no need for it.

nobody that I know of is blowing head gaskets regardless of power.

several people have had the head bolts or studs actually stretch and the head lift off of the block under high cylinder pressure rather than blowing a gasket.

just my observation.

good luck.

later,
chris
