Bullitt Fuel Door install problem

Does anyone know where I can get additional 4mm Torx head alloy machine screws to install my Ford Mustang Bullitt fuel door on my 2001 Lightning? I need additional long screws for the end opposite the hinge (rear) to get the door to fit in the middle of the L's fuel opening. It's Ford Racing part # M-2301-E and my local SVT ford dealer parts guy said they do not list the screws as a separate part from the door that can be purchased alone. I've also tried a national fastener supplier and they tell me the screws are an OEM Ford part and not available. I know a lot of you who have installed these doors on your Lightnings said you went to the local hardware store and picked up extra screws to match the ones that came with the door. No luck at my local Lowe's or Home Depot. Any other suggestions where I can get these /

Thanks in advance...

Both Lowes and HD suck when it comes to fasteners. Your best bet when it comes to things like bolts and screws and lags is to find a local hardware store.

I had the same problem, I found stainless steel screws on our machine shop. (Where I work) I’m sure I can obtain several more, give me you’re address, and I will mail you some. We are taking about the Mustang Bullitt fuel door (the one with the upside down pony on it right?) I replaced all the screws the unit came with, and eliminated the tabs on one side. Moreover, that depressed the door a little lower than the opening, but it made it look better! I was unable to find any bolts at any hardware stores either. After several days it dawn on me that we had them in stock… I will select the eight bolts nuts that I used. Tell me where you want them!!!

Not to jump in the thread, but I have the SAME issue as well with my '01.

If you have enough, I'd LOVE to have a set! My door is SO askew, it looks odd.

Thanks!

OK, glad to help MaxPower. Pm me. And tell me where you want them. The original position also bothered me (sewed). There is one problem however, the two screws that replace the originals with the tabs, when you installed them they butt up next to the fuel inside housing, and it is very difficult to assemble the nuts, what I did, was super-glued them (on the inside threads), and it worked! They has been on for several years now…

See thats the problem here everyone thinks we should carry every freakin fastner that has ever been made. We arent a speciality store. If its not for construction or home improvment we probably dont have it. I get very tired of people getting mad at me beacause I cant find them the exact thing they need to finish building their coffee table.

Sorry I mentioned Lowe's and Home Depot by name. You are right, 31Charlie...your store (whichever one or both you work at) can't be expected to carry everything because they are primarily home products. I guess I was gullible listening to all of the others on this forum when they said to go to the local hardware store for my bolts and I assumed that they meant The Big L or the Big HD. Unfortunately, the big warehouse home improvement stores that carry a sample of everything, have put most of the real hardware stores out of business around here and we have to settle for generic stuff instead of specialty fasteners.
Just curious, do you guys sell dictionaries ?
