Afco HE question

Does the Afco come with the black brackets shown above, or is that just a representation of the stock mounting hardware?

hey tim , i bought the afco from jlp n he installed it on the 19th of may n he said these were the new style. Afco is coming out wit a fan kit that mounts right to it within the month.

It does use the factory mounting hardware. mine did not come with those black mounting pieces. if u would like to see a pic of the front of my truck with it, send ur email address to me @ itreatbtchsrite@aol.com.

If I understand your response correctly, the aluminum mounts are included, but the black parts are already on the truck from the factory.

Now, about these fans --

1. Will they be shrouded?
2. How many fans? What kind?
3. Any projected cost?

Thanks

Better for what?

It's like more boost versus nitrous. Power per $ for drag use only? Nitrous.

For daily driver use? Fans.

Same reasoning. One works all the time. The other, because it uses consumables, is only suitable for occasional use.

Tim, My understanding is that the fans will be alot like the "super chiller"? set up. aluminum shroud with 2 fans as for the brand I am unsure. I will make a call monday and try and find out. They are supposed to use my truck for mock up. Oh and they will turn on with the pump and or a ramote switch. last I heard atleast

Tim, I'm also considering this mod. I am leaning towards the Fluidyne though. Any reason you went with Afco?

Where can you get the Fluidyne from?

First, the "Fluidyne" only uses a Fluidyne core. They are made by some race shop in NJ that does not answer the phone and does not seem to be able to keep its dealers stocked with product. So long as I have another viable option, I don't want my money supporting slack*ss businesses.

Precision Race Cars
1091 W. Whitty Rd
Toms River, NJ 08755
732-914-2144

And while I'm on the subject, the guy I spoke with at Fluidyne did not seem too concerned when I told him that I had been trying to contact PRC for days. Which makes me not want to do business with them.

Second, the Afco looks like it does not hang down as low as the PRC/Fluidyne.

Also, the PRC/Fluidyne mounts are suspect. They have no vibration control and will not give at all if a curb is bumped.

Last, I really hate the PRC/Fluidyne advertising all across the front. When they start paying me, I will advertise. So I would be required to strip that nonsense off.

Fluidyne is releasing its own version in the next couple of months. Rubber shock mounts.

But my truck is so low that I'm thinking that the teeny bit of extra clearance is probably worth the reduction in cooling capacity (assuming that there is one).

Tim you can call AFCO directly (812)897-0900 Ask for Eric Saffell. He can tell you alot more about it. I know that the fan kit is being made for JLP but I dont think it will be a JLP exclusive item.
