Unhappy Help Please...Pulley Removal

I have a 4lb pulley I have installed and removed twice. I went today to put it back on because I am going to get a Predator and dyno tune this coming week but am having a problem. I broke 3 ratchets and a breaker bar trying to get the stock pulley off. Before you ask, yes I was turning it the right way(clockwise). Does anyone have any advise or help that might help me get this thing off. At this point I am at a total loss. I am worried about stripping the hole in the pulley where the 14mm bolt goes. This thing will NOT break loose. Thanks in advance for any help I may get.

Try warming up the engine, or better yet take it for a drive. Metal tends to expand when heated. Are you using a 1/2" drive breaker bar?

Maybe some WD-40, or even some checmical corrosion remover?

Have you tried putting the breaker bar on it and hitting it with a raw-hide mallet to break it loose?

Spray a dab of PB bolt losener, let it sit a hour or so and use a rubber mallet to hit the ratchet to break it free, it worlks alot easier that way.

I had the same problem, Initially we broke the Allen key that the vendor supplied, and the tab broke flush with the pulley, ended up welding a nut on the broken tip and extracting it that way. We finally heated up the nut with a torch, and it finnaly came off. The torch did the tick, also used a four foot cheater bar.

Get about a 2' pipe that will fit over the end of your ratchet. The ratchet with the pipe on the end should be hanging straight down in the 6 o'clock position touching the ground. With your truck lifted on jackstands lay on your right side facing the back of the truck. Your head should be in front of the drivers side tire. Grab the front swaybar with both hands for more leverage and with your knees bent put the ***** of your feet on the pipe. Put very light pressure on the pipe and walk it up so it is barely off the ground (no drag). With a sudden kick push the pipe toward the passenger side front tire.

I have removed several of these pulleys and steady pressure even with a long pipe will usually not work. It takes a sudden shock to break the bolt loose. When it snaps loose the sound will make you think something broke.

Good luck.

I GOT IT. Freaking thing. Never under estimate the use of a lift and the long handle from a floor jack. Getting off my back also helped, I was able to get a lot better leverage. It's also good to know people who know people(like people with professional garages). I don't think I'll be putting the stock pulley back on again. The warranty is done now anyway. Thanks to those who replied and gave me ideas and advice. Now, ready for the Predator.
