Lightbulb Cab shell help needed.

Hey guys, I'm trying to find a way out of my not enough room for the family problem. I'm thinking I can get everyone in the L if I have a shell on. I've seen that "blowntruck" has one on his L

Does anyone have any photo's of shells on L's? Where did you buy it? Brand name and price?

TIA for the help.

How would a shell help the seating problem unless you are planning on putting people in the back which is a major no no.

Like someone said I don’t think it is legal to put people in the back of the Lightning except dog’s and mother-in-laws with out a seat and seat belt…

And, if it is a dog or mother-in-law they don’t need no damn covering…

Some states it is still legal to have people in the back, but still dangerous. I say just buy an older Clubwagon or Econline and keep the lightning for your "alone" time.

Damn, I must be ghetto as hell then for having people in the back of my truck at times...

Brand is A.R.E. Z series. In my gallery there is a pic of a black Lightning with a shell as well. I bought it at Truck-n-America with the tint, sliding (tilt) window, and carpet option. While I would not recommend you always haul people around in the back but every once in awhile, it is fine. (Bedrug is great)

Very happy with the overall fit and look of it. An acquired taste I might add. It is not too heavy either (A.R.E. said something like 175 lbs). I have a lot more storage now and personally, I use it as a truck. No ***** *** garage queen but hey if that’s how you treat your L, COOL! Different floats for different boats.

If the camper makes my truck look gay, then many other Lightning’s on this board are flaming f’ing queers with their "accessories"....

This is not a joke post. I'm not planning on leaving the shell on 24/7, just when I need it. Am thinking about some kind of seat / seat belt option to install inside for one kid. I looked into a new F150 Crew Cab, did you guys know those things are fukng sloooow? I would be hating life with one of those.

I had an Expy, but the wife wanted something sporty to drive so it went by by and she's driving an "04 GT convertible now. It seats the whole family, but can't haul any camping gear. The L will haul the gear, but only seats 3. I have 2 kids. If the wife had just kept the Expy, I wouldn't be typing in this post.

Women, can't live with em, can't shoot em.

I saw

In the Ford dealership last year when I was getting my Ranger serviced, I think it was a low mileage 02 L in the showroom with a cap, and fully tricked out bed. IT was fully carpeted, with a matching liner in the interior of the cap, with two rear facing jump seats with seatbelts. Looked like a sweet setup, but the salesman said it hand't been cheap to set it up like that. Something like nearly 5 grand for everything.

If I were you I would get a 02 or 03 Harley Davidson.

The best thing is that all mods can be put in it.

I saw a 03 HD at the track hit 11.82 with bad 60th's

That thing was a beast:
had a built block
stage III cams
3000 stall
and KB and all the bolts ons

It was sure fun seeing a ZO6 left in the dust by a HD

Dude -

No matter how you set it up, it's not safe for whoever gets stuck back there, especially if it's your kid.

Are you nuts?

You may be hating life having to drive a slow Expy, but you'll be hating life even more if something happened to your child due to your putting them in the back of a pickup truck (with or without a shell and seat) ... something for which it was not designed for.

Not fast enough? What are you planning on doing? Driving silly fast Lightning speeds with your kids in the car???

Big deal, so you can't go 0-60 in 6 seconds...

The L is not a family vehicle. You want to haul the family around with stuff too, get something appropriate - AND SAFE (this is your family we're talking about). Lose the Lightning, get an Expy, or as team suggested, get the HarleyF150.

So you and your wife opted for something sporty for each of you to drive. Did either of you consider that you have children or did this not occur to either of you because you were both wrapped up in your selfish little worlds resulting in neglecting the rather mundane - slow - practical aspects of driving the family around?

I'm thinking about sticking a seat in the back of my Lightning so i can cram one of my kids back there during those times when I have to do the family thing, but want the L for myself the rest of the time...family (and their safety) be damned.

Dude, that sucks. New low.

You sell cars for a living...you can get one cheap. So do it...and you and your wife should pause for a moment and notice that your have a family now and owning two sports vehicles isn't all that practical or smart.
