Unhappy Uh oh... cracked windshield... HELP

I didn't even noticed it, my buddy did. Very small crack that is starting to spread. What are my options here? Never had a crack before. I don't want to wait too long before it spreads all of the way across

Had a small crack fixed by a glass specialist once. He drilled a tiny hole at the end of the crack and filled it with some sort of resin. He also touched up the crack with the same resin and polished the glass. The crack stopped but you could still see a difference as the light broke differently through the resin.

Can they do this when the crack apparently appeared overnight (glares at his wife suspiciously) and is about two feet long?

Cost?

Thanks...

I have had a # of windows fixed and replaced on my rigs over the years...To fix a rock spall now is around $50.00 Canadian in our area...What you have does not fit that deal...I think you will need replace the window...

One place here has a special on for 199.99+tax...I got a price to do mine 6 weeks ago on my Lariat for 345.00+tax cash from me...I bought the truck used , found a rock spall on it and was able to get the Ford dealer to replace the windshield for me...They knew it was damaged before they sold it to me...

I did not trust the spall to run later and was told it could...

Be nice to know what made it crack before you get it fixed ... It could happen again if its a defect in the window areas that seat the rubber..I think you should see a good windshield glass man and get a second opinion and they may see what caused this...Good luck...

I think it was too much timing.

Bummer on the crack. If it is much more than an inch or two, you would be much better off replacing the glass. Like ConcreteGuy said, take it to a good glass shop to see if it is a defect in the windshield frame.
Good luck.

Your insurance should cover replacing the windshield minus your deductible unless you live in Florida they cover it at 100 percent it's the law

I have a crack in my windshield too that started out really small at the bottom and now it's halfway up the windshield.

most small cracks can be handled by a skilled guy that fixes em. They won't be unnoticable but they will stop from spreading. If you have one now, just a tip, don't use your radio, or if you do, do so with the windows open at least a little. Don't push the engine hard as small flexes can spread it some. Don't wash your vehicle either until you get it fixed. If its cold out in the morning don't run your defroster or anything like that, take another car if need be, just get it fixed quick, most places actually can come out to where you work or something similar and knock it out for you.

I had a truck that was about 1 year old and the window had a crack that started at the very bottom (done below where you couldn’t see where it started). Took it to the dealer and they inspected it to insure it wasn’t started by a rock chip etc. Since it wasn’t and there were no signs of something hitting the window to create the crack they covered it under warranty.
