this guy comes flying past me on the street up here in Lansing on Saginaw St, near Lansing Mall. I saw him weaving around 2 cars, I figured he was going to pass me and keep going, NOPE.

He about locked up the brakes as he came even with me and of course started revving the ***** out of it. I looked over pointed right at him and started laughing. Mind you we were driving about 30-35MPH. There was no traffic in front of us for quite a while, He took off and then slowed down, I past him, he did anothr fly by. I just kept driving 30-35'ish. well of course we hit a light and I was behind a car and he was the first car in his lane. He nails it off the line and of course beats grandpa who was infront of me. so now he is just driving like an idiot speding up and slowing down, so I swing past grandpa with no cars infront of me, I slowed down to about 20-25mph and the RX8 is next to me, so He beeps 3 times and we both take off. The weather was HOT and REALLY MUGGY. I take off and the truck downshifted and spun the tires and I just kept it floored and spun as I passed him like he was standing still. I thought the RX8 was supposed to be a sport car.
so the light infront of us is red as we approach it, I stopped and I could tell it was getting ready to change, the RX8 never really stopped kinda rolled as it was turning green. he hammers it about 1/2 car infront of me, so do I. I spun through 1st and most of 2nd going sideways and leaving nice black marks from the light, The RX8 was not quite a car length ahead of me. Once I got traction I flew past him like he was standing still. I only took it up to about 70'ish (speed limit was 45mph) so I let up and began braking. Never saw the RX8 again, He turned off.

I must say those RX8's must have great brakes because he was down a side street in a flash.


All I can say is that I am UNIMPRESSED by the Mazda RX8.

I saw one stock make 183 rwhp on a dyno here.

 

That's not bad for a 1.3 L engine. Our engine is four times larger and supercharged. To match him in hp/Liter, the L would have to make 700+ rwhp.

The RX8 is like the Honda S2000...it's not a drag racer, but it'll kick your *** on a road course. Obviously this guy didn't know that. Good Kill!

 

My friend has an RX-8, it's a cool car as far as technology. Just doesn't have enough *****. one time i followed him down a twisty rode. they corner better that we do. i'd baby the curve and then use the torque to run him down

 

Rx8....= slow I had a similar run in with a 350Z that was lowered with aftermarket wheels so I figured it might be hotter than stock...anyway I walked away from it from a light



.. but that was at the track !!!! street racing is dangerous and now that I've read this I'll street race ...get in an accident ....and well I"ll sue your a..ss !!! cause your unsafe and careless....I have never driven my truck outside the speed limit and I'm safe !!! I dont eat, drink, play with the radio, smoke, miss my exit, drive will sleepy, DWI,talk on the cell phone, put on make-up, get distracted by kids-passenger-other drivers, make poor decisions because I just suck at driving and I'm scared of other traffic....all you nuts out there, change lanes without looking, stop at yeild signs, take my eyes off the road, so I feel its my un-hypocritical duty to try to reach just one street racer with my high and might self righteous comments. I mean other reasons for accidents are OK cause there not "choices"

BTW: my brothers friend has an RX8 that has been bored out and has a turbo and a supercharger and it will kick your but and its the most technilooogical japanese car there is .....

People on the public streets don't choose to have thier life endangered by other people racing. Fans or participants at a racetrack do.

I think MOST drivers in america are pretty ignorant and should'nt even be behind the wheel (if I had it my way). But joe avg driver when headed somewhere thinks they are dealing with cars driving somewhere in the vacinity of the speed limit and people who are generally obeying the traffic laws. STREET racers themselves *count* on this! Otherwise things would not be predictable.

Lmenace had the mindset to at least back off in a argueably reasonable mannor.... (still *law-less* ) Some people don't. I've seen it.... and the outcomes. You ever held someones brains inside thier head on the side of the road after being in a racing related accident. I have.

You can't justify one evil deed because of another.
This kind of seemingly increasing american mindset from Mr Red 92 just blows my mind.
