Almost flipped it........

Well.....tonight I was out having a good time with the Lightning and the wife and disaster nearly had its way with me.

We came back from having a drink and going to dinner when I decided I would get stupid. Keep in mind, I haven't had the truck but 3 weeks and not really used to the power this thing has. I pull out of this parking lot on back road and stomp it.....I got sideways (bad) and then fishtailed around the other side (really bad)...... not realizing that I was about to lose control of the truck... I stomped the brakes and almost put it in a very large ditch. The truck was resting on the tranny with the back wheels off of the ground and the front wheels pointing in the air toward the road. I had to have a buddy come and pull me forward enough so I could go home.

Probably one of the most dumbest things I've ever done. Nearly killed us both...... I really *******ed up on this one... The truck seems to be ok and both of us are fine, but the pride is damaged in a bad way.

Just thought I would share my story of what an *** I am. I have a new found respect for this truck and will never do that sh** again. I've never owned anything like this truck.

I also owe many thanks to my boys that came and helped a brother out.

Glad your ok!

We all have to remember that we have a 4K lb projectile that is a weapon.

I have 3 Sons the youngest is 19 the oldest 26 I don't often let them drive it for that reason alone.

My Son who is 23 now just rolled my L on Valentines Day did 9K worth of damage. He always was ****ey driving it now he's a believer and doesn't get to drive it any more!

Peace, Suavy

Experience is the best teacher. I'm glad the only thing hurt was your pride. You'll get over it (as soon as your wife lets you!)

Your lucky in alot of ways, 1 your wife has'nt made you sell it already, 2 you've got some good friends, 3 you don't think the truck is damaged( please check what Don said to) 4 you had a drink and got the truck hungup (most likely at end of black marks)and nobdy sent the cops, and 5 you actually learned from it
Hope it's OK, and thanks for the chuckle, the first time is always memorable. Now go practice hanging ten (away from ditches) until you get it right

Sometimes you need a good scare to realize the potential
of these beast's.

When mine was fairly new, I almost took one of our Brother's out street racing one night (Chim Shady) I jumped on it and we were rocking, I was basically in the middle of a controlled tire burning run when some ******* pulled out ahead of me, I adjusted to give me room and the truck went totally out of controll. I immeditaly went sideways heading straight for Chim's Pass side fender

TG both of us were on our Game, he jumped to the left out of my way, and I to the right. We laughed it off but it was quite a scary moment.

Then the SOB blew my doors off, over and over and over

Be safe shelpdoggSVT, these things have globs of torque, and can get out of control quite easy.

Oh ya, the Drinking thing, I know we all do it SOMETIMES,
but stupid stupid stupid ..................

Now info on how to repair the wife:

1: If you can get away with just flowers go get some. Not the 7-Eleven kind but ones you have to order ahead of time. Spend about one to two times what dinner cost.

2: Buy your wife some sexy underwear (use your imagination here) becuause you probably ruined hers last night with your stunt.

3: After a few days and before the flowers start to die, if she hasn't let you off the hook yet remind her that since she is so smart why did she let you drink and drive. In other words blame her at this point. Now remember this can back fire and yes it happened to me which is the reason my wife has a new Navi.

4: Last most important thing on repairing the wife, Don't ever listen to people like me. Good luck.

Wow, count your blessings! Glad you survived with not much more than bruised pride. Also glad you were brave enough to post your experience on here, so everyone can learn from your mistake and be more careful out there. I know I'll think twice. Let's hope the 4th week of L ownership is a little less "eventful!"

There's two kinda people that drive lightning's ... the ones
that have experienced what happened to you, and the ones
that WILL.

Until you get comfortable with the torque of these trucks,
it's real easy to lose it.

(Don't ask HOW I know that, OK????)

EDIT ... Just saw the pics ... That is a VERY typical Reverse
Whiplash with these trucks ... the first one is mild, the second
one is killer !!!

Starting a post with I had just been out for a dinner and a drink...... and ending with I almost piled the truck up paints a bad picture no matter how sober you may have been. You claim to have learned something from this event I promise you would have learned a whole lot of things you don't want to know had you ended up in the ditch.

From: Colorado,
I thought I would get cute leaving a car wash one day. I was a block away and figured the tires were dry enough.

It stayed straight in first but when it hit second it started going sideways so I let off to quick and it took a bit for it to straighten out.
Boy did I feel stupid. Showing off I seem to screw up.

When I am by myself and things go well, no one is around.
