2004 Lightning, first track outing tonight....

1030 miles on the clock. Dead-a$$ stock, NOT EVEN a K&N panel filter. I did however already have a 160 degree thermostat in it (big deal, right?). Ran it at Moroso in West Palm Beach, Florida. The air temp was in the mid 60's and quite humid, but overall, can't complain about the conditions. Even had an extra 50 pounds of baggage up front with me in the cab. Ran full weight, nothing removed, spare tire in place, everything was in there.

So how is 13.67 @ 100.08 with a 2.025 60ft on the factory radials? I even managed a 2.000 60 foot tonight but stupidly had put the shifter in first gear for the burn out (the one and only time I did that!) and forgot I had left it in first gear, and hit the rev limiter, then aborted the pass.

Is that what these L's normally run? Is there any truth that with mileage they get faster due to "loosening up" effect?

I have a JLP 6 pound lower, Predator with his custom tune on it, and his cold air ready to go on when I get around to it. I also need to do the FTVB.

I'm hoping for 12.60's-12.70's @ 106 on slicks?

nice numbers, what altitude is the track? Local tracks here are just starting to open, but the pavement still is to cold for good launches

I believe in the lower half of Florida, everything is considered sea level?

13.6 is great with those 60's, schitt take 2/10th's off that, and
you may just find yourself running 13.2-13.4, and for a 100% stock truck, thats grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

As for your hopes on the 12.6 - 12.7, your correct in your math
I have multi 12.7's + 8's with a simple filter chip n 4lb NO NITROUS, and that was many many moons and mods ago

Very good times! And your 60fts show you do indeed know how to drive that beast. (or the track was sticky and your just a goober that floored it.. )

Congrats on the run, do they still have the concrete barriers moved in so that everyone has to drive through the water? Cya at the track.

Thanks Rob. I was the one asking you about your tune via email. I got the stuff at the house, now I gotta get off my butt and put em in.

wydopnthrtl: Maybe just a goober who's been at it for many years. Actually, I got 2.0 60 foot times in my 1988 Mustang when it was brand new, on Goodyear Gatorbacks. There is definitely a technique.

SonicLightning: Yes, the concrete barrier cause one side of your tires to pass through the water. So, I would just gently drive around as close to the barrier as possible. I'm not sure how I feel about those barriers being so narrow now, when I get the Mustang back out. You know, these 10 inch tired Mustangs do have a tendency to wander under a lot of power. Just gives a little less "wiggle" room.
