Belt slippage questions??????

Heres the question guys, I have a 4'lb lower, stock upper and I'm having very noticeable belt slippage at the 1st to 2nd shift and when I let out of the throttle fast. I believe I'm still running the stock belt on the truck, 17K, would a gatorback solve this and If so what size? or do I need to invest in a reichard upper or metco idler? what have you done to solve the issue? Thanks , Todd

I run the metco idler set up and love it. I have no slippage at all. I run a 4# lower and 2# upper with the stock length belt. You might replacing the belt but if you go with the metco set up just get a standard belt. Save your money.

I have a Metco idler kit, and a 6# lower-stock upper. It works great, no belt dust. I also have a Gaterback #40806690, 2 long for you i think.

I had slip from day one on my L. The gatorback didn't help until I went with a shorter belt. Then I put a LFP aux. idler kit on and a 67" gatorback and that stopped it.
I still get a loud squeel if I get on it and back off real fast but that doesn't bother me.

Yes the Gatorback would stop it, I run the correct belt for a 4lb lower 2lb upper combo and have never had a slippage problem.

Goodyear Gatorback 4080660 SC Belt
1999-current Ford Lightning & 2002-current Harley-Davidson *** to be used with 2 lb. Upper & Stock Lower SC Pulleys ***

Goodyear Gatorback 4080675 SC Belt
1999-current Ford Lightning & 2002-current Harley-Davidson *** to be used with 2 lb. Upper & 4lb. Lower SC Pulleys ***

Anywhere it says 2lb upper, thats the same as a stock upper also

What's weird here is, your running a larger lower pulley and the stock belt --> which would be smaller and should def not slip, (unless it's just worn and sloppy) ?

Stock size is 66"
4lbs lower size is 67-1/2"

Something don't make sence ???

Whoa, missed that one. Rob is right, if your running the stock 66" belt and still getting slip then somethings not right, that's one tight fit???

I did use that setup for a while and had NO slip at all (w\gatorback).

If your belt isnt stock then maybe it's to big?
