Trucks missfiring bad! Help!

Well, I go to start the truck today and right away notice that its misfiring and spuddering real bad. It was completely fine yesterday. I didnt even get on it the other day, just all of a sudden noticed it today. So is it a bad plug, chip problem, or DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE THAT COULD BE WORSE?? I unpluged the battery and let that sit for awhile and still nothin. Is is okay to drive until I get get it to my tuner? Any advice or help would be great!

Thank, Kev

Lightbulb

I would check the plugs first. I had a slightly rough idle, stalling problem. Took
the truck to Johnny Lightning and he pulled the plugs out to find that one was
missing an electrode from detonation. He replaced the plug and dyno tuned it
and it runs like a dream.

How does it run without the chip? I guess start with the easy stuff (look for vacuum leaks, something unplugged, loose contact between chip and PCM, etc), then start pulling the plugs.

I would put my money on coil packs or possibly one of the wires by what your saying but who knows. any check engine light? If its spitting and sputtering and missing real bad I wouldn't drive it too much you mess up the cats by clogging them.

Sounds a lot like you have a bad plug. Easy way to diagnos is if you have a temp gun check each of the exhuast manifolds where if meets up to the heads. If it is a fouled plug one cylinder will be a lot colder than the others. This is easier for me though, cause I have access to a lift.

If it's not the plugs...check the #4 coil pack.
