Question any advise on a cam?

what's up guys!

well, i'm starting the buildup of my truck and was wondering if you guys can help me select my cam? i was thinking of going w/ a crower cam w/ a .581 lift. have any of you use this cam? what do you think about it? my truck is going to have a modmax 5.8 stroker, (9:1 compression) w/ an aftercooled vortech running about 18 - 20 lbs. of boost. what do you think my power will be at? and what do you think i will run?
i will be forever in your debt if anyone has any info i can use.

All of the information I have ever read about pushrod engines with a huffer, is they like big exhaust valves, big headers, and a longer exhaust duration. You definately don't need a huge lift cam, but a good duration on the exhaust side is probably needed. Are you ever going to run nitrous? You could probably call crower and tell them what you have and what you are doing, and they could grind you a custom blower/nitrous cam.

Hope this helps and good luck

You should look for a cam that gives lots of lift, but little duration overlap, as this will only bleed cylinder pressure undoing the work of the blower. Look for the Least amount of overlap, and if you have to have some, try and find a cam the the overlap occurs when the exhaust port is closing. Hope this helps

cool! thanks for the replies. i think my best bet is to call crower and see what is up, because i do plan on using a small shot of nitrous in the future.

do you guys have any idea on what power/ times i might be able to pull off assuming i learn how to drive it ?
