Angry When are the tuners going to "UNLOCK" the SCT programmers???

Ok, the new SCT tuner has the capability, like the Predator, for the user to tweak A/F and timing. But as of yet, all of the SCT dealers are locking those functions so the end user can't use them. Not sure why, as the Predator lets you make minor adjustments. IMHO, you spend $400+ for one of these, you should have the right to make minor adjustments. Otherwise what is the point? Yes you can keep your PCM "stock" and email tunes, but those are the only advantages.

Maybe someone else will know more, but I believe there are going to be two different SCT flashers. One will be locked, and other will allow adjustments. What I have heard is the one that allows adjustments is not out yet.

Well I got the whole locking thing from the two SCT dealers I have talked to personally and they both said they are user locked. Not sure about another physically different SCT being on the way...

More info can be found here:

And if you really wanted to adjust things get this package:

The pro racer package is what I am going with.

I'll leave my tuning to my tuner.

Now if it was for runing a supermarket then maybe I would have some input. LOL

I really wish they would make it so you could do data logging like the predator.

The adjustability portion of the tuners is being worked on. It's probably going to be a month or two before we have it released and built into the programmers. It is a programming change, so if you have an existing SCT tuner you can send it back in and have the programming updated.

I do agree that it's usually best to leave tuning to your dealer.

That's why I pay "somebody" that knows more than me to tune..........If I could change the programing, I'd probably add more timing or sumthing

Clean up in lane 3

Thumbs down What???

I just received my Predator in the mail yesterday, and one of the reasons I bought it was for the ability to change the tune on my own, to whatever limited extent it allows. If I am unable to do that, than these things are being misrepresented in their marketing (Where's Tim Skelton?). I don't think the "tuners" should be the only ones to be able to mess with them. And if it's up to the tuners to "unlock" them, then that's what should be done. If this is true, then I will be sending my unit back to the "tuner" and INSTRUCTING him to unlock it. If I can tune 8-9 second cars, gotdam sure I can at least tune this 12-13 sec truck.

UMMM... You might want to reread this thread. We are talking about the SCT 9100 not the Predator.

Then, why is your truck so slow?

Another reason why I do not want to tune myself.

At least he was a man about it. I give him a lot of credit for telling the truth.

you really can't tune your car with a couple buttons on a handheld programmer. At best, you are making raw adjustments to base tables. Even though you may be able to use handheld tuners to adjust things on the dyno, you are never going to get the precision that a dyno tuning dealer can. That is, unless you get the whole tuning package yourself. The only thing the handhelds allow is slight adjustment, but not what I would consider to be real tuning.
