Back From the Dyno...I am Sad/Mad

I since my last trip to the dyno I added a ported eaton and long tubes. And some other minor things that are not worth much to mention.

Gained just about 26 rwhp with the same program I was running and torque went up by 20.

I was running a little lean almost straight 13/1 till like 4500 rpms it drops to like 12.5 and stays there to the end shifting at 5250 rpms.

Before the port and header this same tune was 11.8/1 all the way across.

I keep only seeing just 13.3 lbs of boost tops . With a 4 lb lower and 2 upper and ported eaton. WTF I was expected over 15 or 16 lbs with my setup.

The guy there tuning my chip was clueless about performance. Didn't know what a ported eaton was. After trying several tunes with no positive results I had to settle for a tune that was less 10 rwhp but torque was upped by 15. He just has those so called over the counter tunes from DiabloSport. They just said something like "6lbs tune updated for more power but leaner than some ABU26kddf" I was I have this and this and this and this those things are not listed. And when they were listed they were with 8 lbs tunes.

The good thing my new tune is more safer it goes into the a better A/F ratio by the end of the run it right at 11.8/1 at 5500 rpms.

I have to get a costom tune from one of the top tuners ASAP.

I might just get myself a Preditor this week. So I can get a real costom tune by email.

My full list of mods is as follows: 2002 L

4 lb lower
2 lb upper
ported eaton
long tubes with no-cats all 2 1/2 piping
dual Borla XR-1 Sportmans Race Mufflers with X-Pipe
SB/TB
C&L 95 MAF with cold air intake
P. Spacer
Diablo Delta Chip
Self-Ported Phenum <--- don't know how to spell it
NGK TR6's

I was expecting to see close to 435 rwhp with this setup.
not 395 rwhp

I keep seeing people with more rwhp with less mods on thier trucks......

You must have a red one..

Paint it blue and you could touch 500hp

Timing?

Any idea what timing your chip is running?

I pulled 430hp with just a 2lb pulley, so 395 with 6lbs sounds low...

Boost sounds about right (should be 14 lbs max)

You had the awesome gains ???? why didn't he just change the A/F, dump more fuel at it ???? maybe back down a degree in timing ???

You DO NOT want an off the shelf Diablo Program,
TRUST ME ON THAT ONE been there done that......

“My original Program” “Off the Shelf” Diablo ABU2BOOB
1999-2002 Lightning: 39 horsepower and 43 ft-lb torque
(Change Wanted)Firm up the 1-2 shift a little during normal
driving, firm it up a lot during WOT.

“My Second program” “Off the Shelf” ABU2BOOB1 –
Ford performance file same as boob stronger shifts 1-2.
Ford performance file up date for 6 lb pulley also shifts at 55k
Rev Limiter at 6k

The new code, as I mentioned, is ready. ABU2BOO6K. It's supposed to be the 1-2 shift correction plus 6k REVs. Diablo did not charge custom fee, but only because I paid for several custom codes in the same period (as I noted, we move a lot of chips).

“My Third Program” “Off the Shelf” ABU2BOO6K –
Ford performance file BOOB1 w/ 6K Rev Limiter

I'm now on my 10th Program and the last 7 have been true CUSTOM programs. Johnny and only Johnny tune for me now
BTW HE GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME............

I never even broke in the 12's with any of the above programs,
with Johnny's I run easy 12's no Juice, and a best of 11.81 with Juice

I took my truck today for a spin. Getting a terriable 1 / 2 shift ... it as if it over shifts then kinda shuts off then regains power again.

BTW -- this was my first trip to the dyno with the heat exchanger. And there was a fan right at the heat exhanger. I might have gained something from it. 20-30 minutes between pulls total of 4.

That is exactly what happen to me with the last off the shelf Diablo program I listed above. The SOB would hit the limiter BEFORE shifting 2nd gear. It would do it everytime I went WOT
Also the shift points were set at 5700 RPM.
As said above you DO NOT want that program

What brand Chip do you have ??? everyone of our tuners is pretty much Diablo now, except JDM they're still Super Chip.
take that chip out TODAY and send it to the tuner of your choice, I hate to say it, but you have to start over now, obviously this Dyno tuner WAS NOT a Lightning tuner

No biggy Bro, and if you get in a REAL BIND, I can lend you my spare Diablo Single Chip (Diablo Sport Chip) a while. It'll run 12.8's all day with a simple filter chip n 4lb pulley. It's set up for our year, 4-6 lbs of pulley, aftermarket air filter, + TB.

5500-5600 RPM shifts

5800 RPM Rev Limiter

12-13 Degrees of total timing

A/F's low 11's

Stock transmission line pressure

200ms between shifts

Torque Reduction turned OFF

Tip In

The Chip showed 29 Rear Wheel HP on a STOCK truck w/ nothing done to it but the chip.

I'd have to check with JP (Runnin with the Devil) but I'm positive I readjusted the timing up to 16 degrees before switching to the Diablo Delta Multi Program Chip. I use it anytime I send mine out for a new tweak and it runs perfect with my set up. I raced with it a full year. I would need it back though, (if you need to borrow it)
I always keep a spare.

I agree.

If the person cannot pick from a list of tunes which would be the best, go somewhere else.

Half of us here on the board can do that, and we aren't tuners. A "tuner" is somone who can adjust the parameter of the fuel/timing tables to get optimum performance from your vehicle.

Sounds like the guys you had with you wasn't much of a tuner as you thought.

Here's my latest dyno with a ported eaton. This was on just a 4lb lower, and your basic, filter & chip bolt ons. No headers.

Thanks for the offer Rob_02 but I have another car (1997 Mustang GT Conv) that I been discriminating for sometime. It been just parked on my parents garage for the past 15 months.

BTW ..I have a Diablo Delta Chip--- two program chip

Earlier today I tired to get a hold of PSP & JL but was not successful. PSP I kept getting the machine and JL number sounds like its disconnected. Didn't try JDM cuz they only do superchips.

I have a 4lb lower, 2.80 upper and a REM ported Eaton. I am seeing a solid 16lbs of boost down the drag strip @ WOT. You're olny seeing a 13+. That does not sound right.
