18 Months Living Without My Lightning

Good evening everyone, It's been awhile since my last post and I thought I would log in tonight to let the forum know what it has been like for the last 18 months without my L. After owning two lightnings, a 95 and a 2001, I decided to buy something I've always wanted, a Corvette Coupe. I waited for the zero percent finance charge and went for it. I bought a 2003 and sold the 2001 L. After 18 months living with the vette, here is my opinion for those who may want to know. First off, it's a pretty quick car and handles like it's on rails. Mostly I'm out on the weekends with it because it's not as practical as the L. Now I hear that SVT for 2005 will be coming out with a new L. that will turn heads and make others think twice. 500 HP? Not to mention that I really miss my Lightning and the every day use I had with it. I'm sure I would miss the vette, but the fall of 2005 could find a new L. in my garage. Am I crazy??

Vettes are BADASS!! Buying a Lightning was actually my third choice. I was hoping for a vette. If not, a cobra. But at my age, and with my driving record in california...insurance was just toooo insane. Lightning it is...I hope to get a vette one day too...Enjoy the 'other' beast.

Vette's are a REALLY NICE Sports car.
Its just a sports car doesn't fit in my lifestlye. But if I hit the lottery or something, Iam sure I could find room for one

Glad you enjoy your Corvette and miss your Lightning

I wouldn't look for the Gen 3 until 2006

2006 model year usually equals fall 2005 shipment. Is there any info out there besides 2006 model year?

2005.5 L available May or June 2005. They may call it a 2006 model though. Don't know yet.

I always found that funny. I was a car fan loooong before I was worried about what the ladies thought. Musclecars and European sportscars like the 911 Porsche and the Corvette were my first loves. If I'm 40 yaers old before I can finally afford one, how does that equate to anything other than a dream fulfilled? I think it's the other way around. Those that make assumptions based on what someone drives, most likely has a problem with his or her own self worth. Just an observation.

BTW... I still haven't gotten my first 'Vette or 911 yet. I got side-tracked by a red pickup truck that just begs for a little more of this and a smidgen more of that. I don't think I'll ever be finished.

Owning a Corvette was the fulfillment of a dream. It is the original American sportscar, like it or not. So now I have my dream truck and dream car. There are people that say L owners are jerks, whatever. What's funny is I had a BMW guy tell me 'vette owners are jerks." I had to run the BMW porcupine joke on him.

I have to say that after reading some of the posts amd taking a great 300 mile drive through some real nice country in upper Pa. I had a lot of time to think over what I really wanted to do after next year when my Vette gets paid off. I really do miss my L. but like some have said, owning a new Corvette was my real dream. I do believe I'll keep it and have fun doing it. Now...All I have to do is figure out how to get the new Lightning in late 05 and get passed the wife.
