Question Need Stant 160 degree thermostat part #.

I did a search, and everybody quotes hypertech, which is an overpriced-made by somebody else thermostat.

Anyone know what the 160* stant part number for Lightnings is?

Already got one. I want to push the SES envelope a little and try a 160. If I get a code, I'll switch back.

Part number please?

Why do you think you need a 160?

As your local cooling expert... unless your making a sat night special type of racer? A 160 is'nt a good idea.

I my 20+ years of playing with cars, drag racing, etc, it has been my experience that I get the best ET's and most anti-detonation out of cooler engine temps. I realize you are an engineer, I have seen you posts, and am aware of your view point. I'm not saying you are incorrect about anything, it's just what I want to do for the previously stated reasons.

Sounds like you know what your after. (I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers.. quite often to me it seems people don't know why they do what the do. I spent over 2 years on the modular cooling systems so I kinda take this stuff to heart)

So my Lightning will run quicker times at the track with a 170 vs 160? If so maybe you can help us understand the theory...Thanks

Why would it be a BAD idea to put the 160 in? It might not be a huge gain, but there's nothing wrong with putting one in.

I lean towards longevity.. Not short term power increases.

It is very true that you can get more power out of a cooler motor. But the trade off is a shorter life.

An example please. Granted, I'm not a mechanic, but I'm sitting here unable to come up with a single case where the slightly cooler temp would cause more wear. I was always under the impression that the higher temps were used for emissions purposes. The combustion is more efficient at higher temps, and thus cleaner, but at the cost of the problems created by the added temps.
