Question Need front suspension help ( calling TampaSVT and Spoondog)

Well i ran into tampaSVT's article his suspension experiment and how well it went. In the article he said that he cut two full coils off the stock spring and that gave him the height he wanted. Here's the article.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ight=cut+coils

Well my truck has the belltech shackles and hanger kit as well as the belltech 2" drop springs in the front. The problem was that the front was sitting quite a bit higher than the rear so what i decided to do was trim one coil off the belltech springs.

Well now my truck is way too low in the front, it is so low that the frame is sitting on the lower control arm. I am pretty sure that i am not going to be able to use the belltech springs anymore. I am going to get the stock ones cut instead and hopefully achieve the ride height that tampa has on his L.

Is there anything i can do to my lower control arm so that i can get some more travel before the control are hits the frame?

Tampa, When you got the stock front spring cut did you have them heated and flattened or were they just cut??

I really need some help soon, thanks.

Apparently he isn't allowed to post here anymore if you read what it says under his name, but thats besides the fact, he hasn't owned a Lightning for a few years, and he doesn't live in Tampa anymore either. Good luck finding the info you need.

The only thing I can tell you about Tampa SVT is that last time when I talked to him about the front coils he said he did not like the ride on his truck it was to rough and he was going to raise it but it did look good though

Buy some new coils. Cutting coils is a very bad idea. For $100-200, you can have safe, proper suspension parts on your $30,000 truck.

yeah i honestly didn't want to cut the coils in the first place. I would rather go with a set of 2" drop springs and some DJM or WC lower arms but cutting seemed to be a temporary fix to even out the suspension untill i could afford some control arms.

All i can use the belltech springs for now is a paper weight, they are way too short.

If you look at this picture, you will notice how his front wheel camber is all sorts of wrong..its much more obvious in person however... coils are designed to compress evenly with a vehicle specific amount of weight applied to them, thus keeping the proper physical stance and ride...when you cut even a single ring off you are now over stressing the whole coil, which causes a bad physical situation...which wears out your tires and just looks crapy IMO

I have always liked the "rake" Rich's truck had...but the bowing of the front wheels always looked odd to me.
