Increased blower noise after port?
Chris,
Mine also sounds like Hell first thing in the AM. After warm up it's still louder than it was before the port job, but much better than when cold. I did the trade-a-Eaton with Apten and I was told the blower I got only had 2000 miles on it (mine had 11,000). The Apten has made noise from the beginning but it's really getting bad now. I wish someone from Aptem would chime in on this.....Maybe I'll call em.

BTW..someone else on this board has the same port job on his '01 and he's running a #6 lower / 2.80 upper on stock internals. Before the port he was making 440-450 RWHP.

Sounds like you have a little cavatation, thats all
Mine been sounding like a diesel for two years on idle
DEPENDING ON WHAT PULLEY I RUN
For instance, for some reason I get major cavatation with the
4lb pulley only, but when I add the 2lb Upper (it's on now and will be til next winter) then the cavation goes away or at least is minimized to a point I don't notice it. Mine done that since day one, with the original Eaton, and now with this one.
I will say I noticed MORE cavatation when I bolted the Ported Eaton on, and holy ship did my Whine increase
but since
I took mine apart myself, swapped rotors, and added the S/C oil,
I know it's nothing related to the Port Job. My bearings or nose WERE NOT taken apart, and I have my original nose and rotor which like I said I slid in as one assy, so worry not my friend,
it just has to do with the amount of air coming in, the RPM of the Eaton at idle, (diff pulleys will effect this) and the RPM of the Motor at idle, (diff rpm's @ idle will effect this).
Many have this noise you describe WITHOUT a PE.
Just make sure it goes away and quiets down when you simply raise the idle in park (open the hood on idle and move the cable by hand so you can get a good listen)

is ported safe?
hey guys im new on f150. i got a 04 lightning i just put a diablo predator on it that all the mods i have done, but any way i was thinkin about portin my blower and gone with 4# lower and johnny lightning ram air and bassani exaust next week will that set up be safe and will that put me in the mid low 12's with right 60 foot?
The Ported Eatons have been a Great mod,
but with very differant results, for what seems like every differant Lightning ?
Some gain globs of HP AND TORQUE
Some gain good HP and Lose Torque
Some gain a little HP and or Torque
All dyno #'s seem to show more power being made at higher RPM's, and we all seem to agree the seat of the pants meter, extra boost, whine, and pulling power is unmistakable on the street. HOWEVER until Me and Gator run as good AS WE USUALLY DO, (before we both ported) I am a little unsure of the how it effected my personal ET's ??? We both actually ran slower than we usually do first time out on them.
Schitt I was down 2/10ths - 3/10ths
but I do blame it on the temp's that day (HOT), I am clearly set up for very safe extemly cold weather WOT, and my L has always ran 3/10's off in hot weather, "compared to cold". (this is why I don't bother racing in July or Aug)
So to answer your question, I think 12.6 - 12.9 is what you'd be looking at, and the mid 12's would need a good track on a good day. IMO it's a good mod and I'd do it again
