there could be anything wrong with that cylinder, what did he say? low compression? could be bent valve, worn or broken rings, spark plug threads. the money is a big variable, chances are itll be a good amount i would think
First, find out what diagnostics were done and where, that determined #2 has a problem. Go to that dealer or shop. Talk to the mechanic/tech if possible that worked on the truck. That way you get the whole story.
See if he is willing to do the repair on the side or shop around for estimates. Also ask the owner why he isn't having it fixed prior to selling.
My $$$ is that he had mods, plug fried and lost the electrode and it took out a valve or it launched a plug. The only true way to determin the amount of damage without pulling the head is to look into the cylinder with a boroscope.
If your going to replace one head, might as well do both along with the new new headgaskets. That's only if you get the truck for a deal seing it's hurt. If you don't get this truck. My advice is if your looking for a used pre dated 03 Lightning. Find one with 03 heads or look at pre owned 03 Lightnings.
That way your not keeping your fingers crossed on launching a plug every time you get in your L for a drive like the the rest of us pre 03 MY L owners.

Do a compression test. I am having trouble with cylinder 8. did a compression test and it only has 5 psi. I had similar issue, changed plugs and coil pacs with no luck. then did the compression test.
