Raced a 96 Cobra and got a ticket!
ya cali is harsh. With alot of things. Just to think, ive received 4 front license plate tickets within the past year. I just hate how they gave parking enforcement to give front plate tickets.
It's kinda s h i t t y that he gave you, the one who stopped a ticket. Since he couldn't give you both a ticket, he should have let you off with a warning. And California is out of control. I believe street racing out in the middle of nowhere at, or after midnight is no big deal, but the cops get a hard on for that soft of thing. I my opinion, most cops that enjoy, or issue tickets for this sort of thing are a s s h o l e s. Why don't they ever ticket people for driving slow in the left lane, running red lights or driving with their hazards on in the rain? Because they are lozy *****'s who target what they have hard-on's over. I actually have a clean driving record, but have no love for cops, because most of them got into that line of business to feed their ego. Just my opinion.
in FLorida if you street race you can be arrested on the spot for reckless driving, but there is no quota for cops and trust me i know if there was a quota it would make cops do unethical things, he had to give you a ticket because if someone else was watching him and he did nothing about you racing then he would get in trouble himself, you have to remember with all recent deaths shown on tv due to illegal racing, the law makers have made the laws stiffer,
Generally speaking the reason cops are such A-holes and give out tickets to street racers is because the vast majority of them have no clue about racing and what racing entails. Those that race and have experience generally do not race on public roads because they DO KNOW and understand what racing entails.
Racing is a LOT of luck and a little skill. The luck part comes into play with mechanical type problems, tire blowouts, loss of traction due to improperly prepped road surface (not usually prepped for street racers) blown motors causing oil to be spewed on to the road surface which is usually followed by loss of control of vehicle with blown motor as well as any other vehicles that may be racing.
They’re generally is NO safety barriers in place to protect INNOCENT bystanders should a person with a little skill lose ALL his luck and control of their vehicle and smash into something. Also, rarely if ever do you see emergency personal and equipment standing by in case of a lose of LUCK so they can assist the possible injured.
On a race track, generally speaking and depending on vehicle type, there are SAFETY REQUIREMENTS for all who are racing, main one being a helmet so if one of the contenders losses their LUCK and hits the other contender then “hopefully” both will be able to walk away. Usually a roll cage is required as well for the same lose of LUCK.
Until ALL motor vehicles on the public street are required to have FULL roll cages, all passengers required to wear helmets and 5 point seat belts as well as emergency personal and equipment stationed every 100 yards I would say:
I hope cops continue to be A-holes and protect us from those that do NOT KNOW much about racing to begin with…
Anybody who “thinks” they have total control over their vehicle and/or their surrounding conditions is someone that belongs on a bicycle with a helmet that has the sticker ”One of Jerry’s kids” on it and FAR away from the normal public…
*** Please disregard the above if it is only two people racing way out from the public on some lonely road. To those I say have fun and may God be with you in case your luck runs out because it may be a long way from someone that could provide emergency care.

My cousin in California was ticketed as a street race spectator.
He is blind in one eye and the fine was $500.

For those of you that say take it to the track. What do you do when a Z28 pulls up next to you at the light and revs the engine and wants to race? Do you just ignore them?

This is true.

They pressured him real hard to turn States evidence but, he said it happened so fast, he winked and it was over.
My sister-in-law was hit by car that was streat racing another vehicle. She never saw them coming. The kids racing (one was 18 and the other was 17) never had insurance and one was driving on suspended license. She is now totaly disabled and has to depend on the goodness of America's welfare system for her Dr bills. It ain't right that she has to spend the rest of her life with the body she has now.
Street racing ain't cool! It don't matter how good of a driver you think you are you can still mess somebody else's life up! Enjoy your truck but keep it at the track.

One of the BIGGEST issues is all the other drivers that may
not know that you are racing. They're just cruising along when
WHAM two cars go by at excessive speeds.
Much better if you run somewhere where everyone is
going the SAME direction, and with people that KNOW
what is going on. Not to mention emergency equipment
and rescue personnel (EMT's) right there.
