raced a g35

This guy was test driving a G-35 (350 Z) and after he did his 1-2 drag race I flew by like a ricer, so I slowed down waited then turned right , went into the fast lane and waited , he is flying by me , I floor it and sit on his tail until I went into the fast lane after passing the car infront of me and at 70-75 blow by him like the wind! I'm at full weight (4850 ) without anyone inside! My friend just loved it, a pickup blowing by a sports car.

coupe or 4 door? My roomate has one, fun *** car, pretty fast too, but not really lightning competition in the straight line.

I still wouldnt mind having one maybe for my wife or as a daily driver. There nice looking cars. I would buy a 35 over the 350z.

I like the 35 better too. At least the aftermarket got a supercharger out for it quickly too.

I use to drive a lightning, but i now own a G35 coupe with the 6 spd. Awesome car but no competition in the straight line for the lightning.
Now on a road course i do believe the G35 will have an edge over a stock lightning. I say stock b/c i did take my modded lightning out on the road course and was very impressed with the way it kept up with some cars.

Yah it was a 4 door, but it was 6-spd. I'm sure this helped to sell the car. Yah maybe a pick-up can out run this lux sports car,but no Honda will beat it!!

actually the 6 speeds are pretty hard to sell from what we understood at the dealer. He ended up picking up a brand new 2004 for 31k or so with retail at 34k but with automatics they wouldn't budge on price at all. This is in LA though, and most people just don't know how to drive stick.

My mom has a G35 6spd. Me and my dad both hate it. It sucks azz trying to launch it just wheel hops severely. I ran a 9.2 @ around 73 last year at the 1/8 mile track in it. All thes stupid ricer kids came up and said man that's a fast car man and the y thought I was the chit or something, I'm all like "Yeah, whatever this thing is a slow peice of chit" Could've had a real car for the 35large wasted on this ting. ***cough***O3COBRA***cough***
End rant...

The G35 is nice I looked at them before I bought the L but turned away quickly after finding out they're just a 350Z in a heavier car. They're actually tuned down a bit from the Z too.

My dad bought a Z this past winter when I bought my L. He put a CAI on, high-flow cats and Koni shocks. It sounds great and he claims it moves pretty well too. He hasn't raced me yet, but we're going to hit a track together sometime this summer hopefully.

I ran a coupe at the top end, stuck with me around 130mph then gave up. I ended up doing 140mph. I think they top out in the 130"s.

had my roomates up at about 120-130 once, looked like it still has some gear in it.

Apparently its 158 mph. .. .

I would have to disagree with some of you on this threat. Yes the coupe is not as fast as the Lightning but it still in the low 14's. Which is a repectable time.

As for comparing the Z to the G35, the G35 will handle better then the Z and will also out break it.

The 6spd not selling???? Not here in Florida, they will discount the automatics like crazy and will not budge on the 6spd version. They make around 5K 6spd Coupes a y

I will admit after owning a lightning this car does seem slow, in a perfect world i would own both right now. As for buying a 03 cobra instead of this, never. I rather wait until the new Cobras come out. But for the whole package and price this is a better choice, in my opinion.

Putting flame suit on!

Sorry Black2000L, not to flame you but are you serious that the G35 will handle better and outpull the 350Z? Are you sure you didn't mean that the other way around? The G35 felt more like a driving a regular sedan - like a Camry or something - than a well-handling car. The Z on the other hand corners as well as most Vettes I've been in. And the same goes for the performance. I have no doubt the Z's are in the lower 14's. I'd expect the G35 to be nearer the higher 14's.

i think the coupes are probably just as good as the z's, and the awd ones probably outhandle the z's. As for straight line, well . ..

stats i got are

350 z quarter in 13.95 sec @ 102 mph
skidpad: .91g

g35 coupe quarter in 14.6 sec @ 98 mph
skidpad: .92g

spec numbers aren't a good way to really compare, but just a general idea. I cant find my magazine with the g35 and g35 awd compaison, but just say it handles better, tad slower.

the g35 weighs a goot 300-400 lbs more than the z so it make sense to be slower, it's got a rear seat and a bunch of other stuff the z doesnt have, but it also uses a different chassis so i can see it being able to still handle at least as good as the z if not better.
